By all accounts, our beloved ex-Governor Mario Cuomo is a great man, a true man of the people, and a faithful public servant who should have been elected president in 1992.

But clearly he f[inks]ed up massively raising his two horrible sons (the jury is still out on his daughters, who are thought to number in the low single digits).

What do y'all think he did wrong? Was it not hitting them enough?

What I can't understand is how Andrew Cuomo looks just as old as Mario Cuomo.

Bumping this thread to say that after last night I have a newfound respect for Chris Cuomo. He held his ground and kept his cool as a mob of people swarmed around him, and then continued reporting even as he visibly suffered from the cloud of tear gas enveloping him. He only abandoned his post when his camera guy literally had to step into the frame and escort him to safety.

Ita just occurred to me that Mario Cuomo looks a lot like Kevin Spacey.

what year do you think this picture is? Considering the years Andy and Chris were born, I'm guessing this is the early 80s.

Do you really need to consider anything other than the hair on the women to figure that out?

He raised kids who went to college in the 1980s.

Mario Cuomo was THE driving force behind funding the massive expansion of NY's state prison system -- often doing so through special bond sales.

Speaking of Koch, anyone else think he was basically an Andrew Cuomo-level HP?  There is plenty of political corruption in other places (ex: Cleveland, New Jersey, Louisiana, Chicago, etc) yet the corrupt and/or morally bankrupt politicians in New York politics generally seem to be significantly worse than those in other areas with corruption-rich political histories.  Can anyone shed some light on why this is the case?

Koch is Jewish, so you get the Israel-centric myopia (which led him to endorse Bush in '04), in addition to your usual corporate Democrat.  so I'd say he's marginally worse than A. Cuomo.

This, and the "tale of two cities" speech at the DNC in 1984.  Needless to say, he was a jerk.

What's wrong with the "Tale of Two Cities" speech?
It just completely denied the reality that Reagan saved America from the stagflation and malaise of the Carter years.  It's much like Mark Schauer's campaign for MI governor this year.  He relied entirely on class warfare, even as every indicator showed that the economy had vastly improved under the incumbent.
