Good Thursday Evening!  I had another very productive day.  Probably my most productive day in a couple weeks.  I am currently working on a project consisting of 16 drawings.  At the end of the day yesterday, I had gotten about 4 or 5 of them done.  Going into a Friday, I have 5 left.  This means I got 6 or 7 done today.  I'm really starting to pick it up quite nicely, too.

Tomorrow will also mark the completion of a 40 hour week.  It's the first such week since Week 1.  After work tomorrow, I will be making the 2 hour drive back up to Tulsa and check on my apartment.  Right now, I'm planning to move back to Tulsa once this employment contract finishes, which looks like may be around April 1.  If that happens, I will extend my apartment lease for another six months which would take me to November 30.  Now, if I get put on another contract at work, which is very possible, then I will get out of my lease in Tulsa and move into an apartment in Oklahoma City.

I checked on how to terminate the lease early and it's not easy to do.  I would still have to give 60-day's notice and be responsible for rent until someone moves in plus an extra month.  I've already paid December rent which only leaves me 5 payments left in this lease.  Even if I put in the notice this month, I would still be responsible for at least 3 payments, maybe 4.  That would still save money, but then you have to factor in hiring movers to bring all the stuff down to a storage barn in OKC which could be $1000-$1500, so it might actually cost us more to move than to extend the contract.  If I don't give a 60-day's notice by March 31, then I would automatically be responsible for at least a pro-rated rent for June.  If I extend the lease for six more months, my rent would go up $25 per month, or I could sign up for another year and keep my rent the same as what I'm paying now.

Needless to say, I've got a lot of decisions to make over the next 3 1/2 months.

Hire movers? I guess I just assumed you never had too much in the Tulsa apartment ... or in general. How much stuff would you have to move?

Seriously, how much stuff can Jeff possibly own? And how did it get into the apartment in the first place? Movers?

I'm going to feel ill if Bushie père and mère had to dip into their meager savings to fully furnish an apartment with brand new furniture and a big screen TV (to watch the premium cable package on).

The alternative is that there's nothing but cheap Ikea and Target crap in there and Bushie is going to waste all this time and gas to "check on" things that nobody wants to steal and that he's not going to miss if they're gone.

Perhaps you should go by a name other than Nathan to make it easier for the forum to remember you are not male.

I changed my display name over a year ago and I've grown attached to what it is now (which is supposed to communicate that anyway but apparently doesn't succeed). I can't change the fact that it says 'Nathan' under it. I could just ask people to address me as Madeleine, which is the name that my family and I eventually decided on, but I have low hopes for the forum as a whole remembering or abiding by it.

FWIW, I don't pay attention to people's display names. So many people just do dumb stuff with it that it isn't worth noticing. Still, I remember that you're a transsexual.

2 would barely give me a taste.  I want to enjoy it just a bit before they're all gone.  I'm going to stick with 5.

With this being said, we can all stop giving any advise. Bushie doesn't want to diet it lose weight, and is content with dying in the next 2 years.

How can you say that when he's actually taken some steps in the right direction this week? He's eating fruits and vegetables at lunch, his main dish is healthier than Pop Tarts or fast food, and he seems to be open to substantive advice.

When we all pitch him a diet of mango rinds and kale mist, he rejects it. Given small but tangible direction, he seems to have done OK.

Not sure what Andrew will say but his lunch is too many calories with the cookie buffet.

Yah, pretty much. I just stopped bringing crap with me to lunch. I may not be on the best shape, but I'm working on it. I just find something like fruit to replace them with. I went from 315lbs standing just under 6 foot in November 2013 to 235 as of this morning by eating right and exercise. Jeffie just won't do it. He thinks havin a few more baby carrots will cancel out eating cookies... It won't! Just add more baby carrots or celery to a separate baggy, and have that as your snack. It's what I do. If you don't buy or bring it with you, although you may still have the cravings, you'll end up having something healthy. Just take the temptation out of the equation.

Andrew, congrats on the 80 lbs.  you're acting like 5 tiny cookies cancels out my entire meal.  You're focusing on a small treat instead of the rest of the lunch.  By your logic, I should never have any kind of cookies.  Period.  Ignore any kind of cravings forever.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It's hardly a secret that just about everybody struggles with weight and not many people can pull off such a feat. In today's data driven world, you'd think there'd be more concrete points that would guide weight loss instead of the "Eat only pineapples for a week and lose 12 pounds" crap that we all see everywhere.

Bushie, eating isn't addition and subtraction. It's addition and addition. There's no negative calorie food.

If you want to eat cookies, you need to do a subtraction activity: exercise. 275 calories is about 30 minutes jogging or an hour walking.

2-3 cookies would be a small treat. 5 cookies is a big treat. Treats are ok in moderation but that means moderation across the whole day, and that's still a challenge for you.

I checked on how to terminate the lease early and it's not easy to do.  I would still have to give 60-day's notice and be responsible for rent until someone moves in plus an extra month.

What sort of insane lease did you sign up for? Well what's done and rashly agreed to is done and rashly agreed to. But in any case what you describe is hardly difficult; you just have to give notice to the landlord and move out and then sort out any outstanding rental payments. Given that this is Tulsa (a prosperous city of around 400,000 souls) the landlord is unlikely to have difficulty finding another tenant (who would presumably charge a slightly higher rent to than he charged you, because that's what tends to happen). And then it is done and you have no more payments (rental, utilities, huge fuel bills from driving over to the place etc) to worry about.

Why would you pay your rent at the start of the month when you don't even live there?

Why would you need to hire movers, why would you need to put things in storage? If this was an unfurnished let that you then furnished yourself, then just sell the furniture. If it was a furnished let, then you won't have much to move out anyway. I would suggest (anyway) that you would be better just hiring a van and doing any moving yourself; much cheaper.

It is currently the beginning of DECEMBER. Late March is eons away. Just give notice now; right this minute. Email the landlord or ring him up.

YOU DO NOT LIVE THERE AND WILL NOT BE MOVING BACK SO THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO POINT - NO POINT WHATSOEVER - IN RENEWING YOUR LEASE. IT WOULD ALSO MEAN THAT THE PAYMENTS WOULD NOT STOP. AND NEITHER WOULD YOUR UTILITIES BILLS. IF YOU RENEW YOUR LEASE YOU MIGHT AS WELL TAKEN A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS OUT OF YOUR FATHERS BANK ACCOUNT AND SET FIRE TO THEM. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT DO THAT.

Stop dithering and give your landlord notice. Then it would be done and you could move on with your life. And a major source of guilt (and nagging here) would be gone. You would feel better, I'm sure of it.

I think Bushie is assuming he'll be fired in the near future and that he may want to go back there.

No, I'm just doing a what-if scenario where this contract ends and is not renewed.  That's a plausible scenario.

The details of Bushie's lease are pretty standard. He's not renting from a small investor. He lives in a large complex with hundreds of units, which is owned by a large investment company, that owns countless other complexes, and managed by a seperate management company, that manages countless other complexes. They have teams of lawyers who have devised fine print very carefully to squeeze out every penny they can from people like Bushie. Also, every complex always has a few percent of their units vacant, so I don't know how they are determining of they have leased his unit. Presumably they prioritize apartments that were vacated normally, so as to get as much of Bushie's money as possible. If they are all full, that would mean that the rent is not set high enough, a situation that with modern data management never happens. I recognize that much of this model may be unfamiliar to people in the UK, where housing shortages have been more of an issue,  but is rent really not due on the 1st of the month there also? That's pretty basic. Any American landlord, even a small one will charge a fee for rent being more than a few days late.

Bushie, will you be enjoying your super enhanced cable package and full volume porn now that you're in Tulsa for the weekend?  And what will you eat......there's no food there.

I will be enjoying the cable, watching the PAC 12 Championship tonight.  I will be coming back down tomorrow morning to spend time with my cousin before she leaves for Cameroon for a year on mission on Dec 26.  I haven't decided on dinner tonight, yet.  Braum's sounds good tonight as does pizza.  I'll have to repent at the altar of the scales, but like you said there's no food in the apartment.  Tomorrow evening, my parents and I will go to Cracker Barrel for supper.

Why is Bushie so intent on moving back to Tulsa after this contract? it's not like he has deep roots there or a better chance of landing another CADD job being a smaller metro.

Is this cousin the person who'll be doing some sort of secretarial work for a Bible translator, or do you know multiple people who are going on missions to Cameroon? If it's the latter, what will your cousin be doing?

If you're only living at your Tulsa apartment a couple of days a month, why don't you cancel your cable there so you have one less thing to pay for?  There's still plenty of sports on the broadcast networks.

I mean seriously, how much does that cable package cost per month?

Many different languages.  I don't know which ones, but believe it or not there are still thousands of people groups who have not heard the name of Jesus, have no churches, and have no access to the written Word of God.  The Gospel of Jesus Christ and the written Word of God, known as the Bible, are advancing rapidly, but it still has a long way to go.
