Dare I ask how much your computer was?  Did you at least get no interest?

18 months no interest.  I'm not going to say the actual amount.

Oh you dont have to tell me, you got the deluxe model with all the bells and whistles because you have to run all dem high powered CADD programs, that you don't use anyway.

It wasn't the top of the line.  I didn't put THAT much on my card.  It should only take me 6-7 months to pay off.

How does one in your financial situation get credit to begin with?

He has a full-time job with an hourly wage in the double digits. That's good enough for pretty much any store-branded credit card.

Nice sleuthing BRTD. I dont see why you would need an expensive computer. You dont strike me as a gamer, what do you do. Post here and look at porn?

No sleuthing really, I used to work for Best Buy Corporate. But yeah, as soon as he said 18 months I knew he spent a lot more than he needed, as usual. His excuse will probably be as you said, to run some high end CADD program that he'll never run anyway.

So Bushie got sweet talked or was it a hard sell from a Best Buy salesman.  He is really does seem to be a saleman's dream.

I can hardly wait for the upcoming car buying episode that has been hinted at.

I'm thinking that a Sentra (or its equivalents in other makes) will not offer ODF the level of back support that he now requires. I suspect he (or, rather Papa) will buy something more attuned to the needs of the full figured gentleman. Something opebo would approve of. Perhaps a Buick.

My Sentra is quite comfortable.  I will give it that.  And, any car purchase will be my purchase, not my parents.

They will simply finance all the payments, but it is IN NO WAY their purchase.

I doubt Bushie could get financing for a car. His income and credit history are so...spotty.

Bushie, if you just had a decent laptop rather than a desktop, you wouldn't need to bother with this nonsense of "I can't practice CADD because it's on the computer in Tulsa, and I'm not going to move that thing to OKC."  I don't really see the point of a desktop if you already have a laptop, to be honest.  I've gotten by fine with laptop only for many years now, and make more $ than you.  What do you need to do that is so sophisticated?

I'm willing to cut Bushie some slack here. Maybe he is financing all of the payments on the computer himself; it only requires him to offload the rest of his payments onto Papa Bushie.

You forget that I have a steady, stable, and good paying job don't you?  I am quite good at setting a budget and I am quite capable of paying most of my bills, which is what I'm doing right now.  Mom and Dad are helping me out very little at this point.

You have a temp job with no paid time off. That's not a steady employment for a 36 month or long car finance.

Save up to buy your next car, Bushie. In cash. Please.

If you had a good history of cobbling together short term freelance projects, that would be something. However, you don't. Your life is a shambles. No bank in the world is going to lend you enough money to buy a new car. You're completely delusional if you think otherwise. We all know how this will play out. Papa will cosign. Papa will pay.

I know my finances better than you and I am a darn good judge of my financial situation.  My life could not be better right now.  It is not in shambles like you stupidly proclaim.  I have made several correct decisions in my finances and I will continue to do so.  I am not completely worthless like this forum thinks I am.

The issue is that you seem to think that your finances being in shambles makes you 'completely worthless', and is thus something to avoid at all costs and be in denial about when it happens. That's not true. Your finances can be a mess, your life can be a mess even, and even so you still have intrinsic value. Admitting that you have a bad track record in issues of employment stability and financial management really truly will not kill you or make anybody who actually understands how the world works think any less of you than they do.

Bushie, all I need to know is that you are contract employee with no paid time off in a job that is not guaranteed to last.  That's enough information to tell me financing a car is a bad idea. I don't need specific numbers.

It says a lot about Bushie's value system that he equates being unable to obtain a car loan with being "totally worthless." The really odd thing is that somebody who holds such high regard for having good credit would so frequently go so far out of his way to ensure that he will never be in a better financial place. People can be so irrational!
