Yes, anything that helps defeat ISIS is a good thing, but I don't believe the US has a special responsibility to fight ISIS.

Yes, of course. It's one of the best possible uses of American military power.

Yes (R).  Though the results both in this poll and in the real Senate vote really challenge the strangely conventional "wisdom" that being a hawk is on the right end of the spectrum and being a dove is on the left.  I guess that's additionally challenged by Presidents Wilson, Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, etc....

Okay. That doesn't relate to the situation. And all of those people are dead now.

Yes I support airstrikes on ISIS. I'm not a hawk at all, but I think we should go after legitimate threats in the best way possible. I think troops on the ground would be a disaster, but this is a fine way of handling it.

No ISIS has not attacked America.  We don't need to be dragged back into Iraq.

Not at all, but Maxwell is right when we are talking about legitimate threats to our national security-which ISIS is not.

No, though I do find that much more defensible than ground troops.

Isn't it time the US stopped having to fix the problems of the rest of the world? That's partially why A. We have such a huge debt problem and B. The rest of the world snaps at us when we intervene anywhere.

Of course, since they've already beheaded American citizens, one could argue that is just cause for invading. So I would wager that if we did attack ISIS, then we should leave the region after a short period of occupation and don't spend a decade longer there than we need to. That's one reason why we have ISIS in the first place.

I guess, but I strongly oppose any involvement on the ground in Syria besides possibly arming the Kurds. Iraq is different, though.

As long as it limited to airstrikes, yes... wipe that ultra-violent theocracy from the face of the Earth.

Yes (D). I support preventing mass killings and the enslavement of women, and ISIS is by its own declaration an enemy of the United States. The idea that they are unlikely to pose a threat to us if left unchecked is not credible.

Yes (D), I support them so long as they are part of a larger international effort. I remain vehemently opposed to ground troops.

Yes, of course. It's one of the best possible uses of American military power.

This.  I also wouldnt be opposed to special operations forces being deployed for some time-limited objectives either.
