This is something someone at a store I worked at was hoping for when I was living in Maine for a while last year. What if Olympia Snowe decided she wanted back in in 2014? That would involve primarying Susie, who she is known not to be the biggest fan of in the Senate while they were partners. They are both beloved by the people of Maine, but who would have won, and how close would it have been?

She's not coming back.

Snowe was always slightly more popular. They both are/were great, but I personally like Collins a little more.

I know she's not, that's why I labeled it as a hypothetical.

Collins is more conservative, and so would obviously win.

Collins would have won. Considering that there is some animosity there, that would have been an ugly race.

Stop trying to make Snowe happen. She isn't happening.

If the whole electorate could vote, Snowe would win comfortably. In a Republican primary, Collins would win though.

This is the correct answer.

How do these Maine senators vote on the isuses? I know Collins talks a lot of trash but is she is moderate/liberal on civil rights.

Neither- Some right-winger takes advantage and beats them both ala Miller/LePage.

That could happen with them splitting votes.

Given the '14 environment, the right-winger would probably be Senator-Elect right now.

Collins, but mostly because she's the incumbent and the move could be seen as "encroaching" on her seat. Had Collins retired first and then tried to primary Snowe, Snowe would be the favourite.
