Never saw the need. If toddlers and people in dirt poor third world countries are capable of doing it without buying special gear I'm sure I can too.

No, but my mum got herself hiking poles:

Even though I often hike through the woods and mountains, I don't need them because I'm not an "old" yet.

The only thing that I occasionally buy for walking are new waterproof/warm walking shoes with a good grip. For longer day-tours, I just use my old backpack. Other than that I don't need anything for hiking.

I bought my current primary pair of shoes because they are good walking shoes....because I walk for exercise and my last pair of shoes sucked at it.  Does that count?  I think it does.

Lots of people buy things they don't absolutely need for activities.  Humans can walk in the rain without an umbrella, do you see the need for those.  <insert a thousand other examples here>  I'm not sure why walking gear is a special case.

bullying fail....1 out 5....would not buy again

I have some calf compression sleeves, bunch of socks and 9 or 10 pairs of shoes.  That all counts, right?

Running/athletic shoes/shorts?  Yes.

Anything specifically for just walking?  No.  I'm human.
