Surprised I didn't hear about this earlier. But apparently throughout 2014 Mark Driscoll got hit hard with more formal complaints of what everyone has known for years. This was a follow up to dwindling attendance which almost halved from a peak of 11,000 and donations which resulted in the closure of three branches. The eventual culmination was Driscoll's resignation in mid-October. The new lead pastor then immediately announced plans to dissolve Mars Hill, all the individual churches will have the option to continue if sustainable as separate independent churches or will have to close their doors as well.

Got to say good riddance. Driscoll was a really nasty piece of work.

Mars Hill Church was a Pacific Northwest megachurch.  To me, Mars Hill always meant Mars Hill University.  I'm glad to know that the potential for confusion will soon be lessened, but otherwise I don't care because I never did pay much attention to megachurches.
