There is something wrong with this forum. You guys like dressing like an Eskimo for 8 months a year?

Hard to pass on free health care.

Depends on one's personal situation I suppose. How are taxes in Canada, especially for the poor and lower middle class? Is there a VAT? Someone is paying for that healthcare, and unlike America, the tax system is usually less progressive in places that have a larger government. In addition, the ACA helps out a lot of these people with subsidies and there is a fairly generous stop loss provision. I am sure many people would benefit in a Canadian system but I suspect it would be the really poor and the upper middle class. Most of the working poor and middle class might be better off in the American health care system.

There are so many other reasons to support Saskatoon over Dallas, as well. Not everyone prefers warmer weather, you know. Especially on this forum.

LOL@the idea Saskatoon is that cold 8 months a year. Unless you've actually lived in the Midwest for a full year or have visited it at various points throughout please don't comment on our weather.

Tennessee weather is actually similar to the Midwest except it is warmer. It sucks here and it sucks more up north, mainly because I hate the cold.

Sure, spring and fall up in Canada you might receive some Gulf of Mexico air for a few days, but you will also be stuck under the polar vortex for the same amount of time.

One reason why cold weather is better than hot weather is because it's easy to get warm when it's frigid outside.  It's just a matter of getting inside and dressing appropriately.  Getting cool in the heat is more difficult.

Saskatoon.

I'd never live in Texas, what an awful place.

Cold weather is under-rated. I hate it when the temperature goes over 90. I'd rather pile blankets and quilts on my bed then have a fan on 24/7.

In 2001 there was a heat wave in the northeast, it was 103 on the worst day and I'll never forget how awful I felt even with the A/C on. In Dallas a couple years ago it was over 100 degrees for 30 days straight.

Sasakatchewan's politics are too right wing for me. But on the other hand, as much as I like the NDP, they seem somewhat anti-Israel. So I guess I'd be stuck with the Liberals, who are mostly dead west of Ontario.

At least Dallas has food and culture. And is within driving distance of Austin. And there's gotta be some nice, walkable neighborhoods with cool bars and whatnot (though I could be wrong on this). Saskatoon is nearby nowhere and has nothing culturally, so I dunno what y'all really plan on doing once you get your free healthcare.

Austin is like 6 hours away from Dallas if you don't factor traffic.

Isn't Dallas more liberal than Saskatoon?  I'm only guessing here, I know very little about Saskatoon.

I wouldn't say so. Dallas is in Texas after all (Austin notwithstanding).

Saskatoon as a whole is right of centre these days, but it and Regina are the most left wing parts of the province. Saskatchewan used to be very left wing, it was the first jurisdiction in North America with a socialist government.

Dallas like most big Texas cities is quite liberal.  Austin really isn't any different than Dallas.  Once you step out of the city of course things change, but that happens in Austin too.

Dallas certainly doesn't have the reputation that Austin does. Anyways, it's hard to compare both cities, but I am fairly certain Saskatoon would be more Democratic than Dallas County at least.

Dallas

Dallas is actually one of the better cities in Texas. Plus I'd be closer to Austin (one of my favorite cities in the country).
