Have you seen his favorables as of late? McDaniel could probably make it out of a crowded primary, but he would probably lose to whatever Democrat he faces.

Barring a Jim Hood run or an utter democratic tsunami, I don't see MS electing a democrat, though McDaniel's margin wouldn't be anything to tout. It's just too conservative of a state.

29 Favorable - 60 Unfavorable loses no matter what state you're in.

I don't think so. His legal challenge was a joke. Had he handled his runoff defeat more graciously, then maybe. The Republican bench in Mississippi is fairly good too. I think Harper, Hosemann, Pickering, and Reeves will all consider running for a Senate seat when one opens up.

Yes in a general, no in GOP Primary

Jim Hood isn't going to the Senate. He Doesn't want the job, and Mississippi voters probably wouldn't elect him anyways.

When Cochran retires the next guy in is going to be Pickering, and I'm expecting that we'll have Wicker in the Senate until the 2030s.

But, no Chris McDaniel does not have an electoral future in Mississippi.

McDaniel has no future in politics, if he accepted the result of the primary (much) sooner, he would.

I think he burned his bridges, and Mississippi has a fairly deep bench in any competitive primary. The Republican members of Congress are all fairly new, so he's unlikely to have an opening in those races.

He has more of a future as a right wing commentator.

No, he's burned too many bridges, IMO. If he just, ya know, conceded to Cochran, maybe.

No. He won't be able to win a Republican primary in the near future.

Why doesn't he do this? MS's off-year election cycle means he could still run for reelection as AG later.

That only seems a smidgen worse than Brownback's numbers.

It's also not much worse than McConnell's was in 2013.

No. He's burned his bridges with the entire party. His legal challenge bordered on ridiculous and in the process, he alienated leading Mississippi Republicans.

Maybe if he didn't throw a hissy fit after losing, but now I doubt whether he can retain his own state senate seat
