In a Presidential year who do you think ends up pulling it out? I say Murphy would have a 50/50 shot with a strong campaign, I think Rubio is too conservative for the state and his views on SS/Medicare will bite him in the state.

I don't think Murphy will go for Senate, unless Rubio runs for President (and it's an open seat).

Murphy won't run against Rubio, he'd only run if A) It's open due to Rubio running for President or B) Rubio embarrasses himself so much in the Republican primaries it affects his standing at home.
