Obama should issue another executive order.

Obama should issue another executive order.

There's not one he can realistically issue.  The Democrats got upset with Nixon non spending monies that had been budgets and passed a law that basically makes it illegal to not spend money that has been budgeted unless it is impossible to do so.  At most he could issue an order tightening up the standards for distributing arms to local police armies, but there's not anything he can do to stop the process without Congress letting him.

This is depressing. This is one bipartisan thing I agree with.

I seriously wish he could issue an executive order here.

The President can order the stopping of sales of military grade weapons to local police departments, if they don't pass muster. It has been pointed out that the police departments often get their weapons from the U.S. military.

That's constitutional and within his authority as Commander in Chief.

If Congress has ordered the sales, then it's not.  Maybe marginally it would be if he issued a finding that the US military still needed the equipment Congress ordered him to disperse to the States, but I can't see Obama saying we need more military.

I have no idea of the statutory language, or if the Defense Department does it on its own. If statutory language, obviously a no go, as the power of impoundment is gone for the executive branch.

But if there's no statutory language on disposal of military weapons, I assume it'd be up to the President.

After tonight it won't matter. No way this can pass any time soon with the images we are seeing.

You're not in a position to complain. It's your Boehner who decided that. Blame your party.

You should expect none of the semi-decent civil liberties/decrease of government authority bills that Justin Amash or any other random Liberty Caucus member will occasionally cobble together to ever reach the Senate. That Hastert Rule is a bitch.

Of course they did!  They can't have anything productive happening in congress.  Holding a sixth Benghazi hearing and yelling about Obama's immigration executive order are obviously more important.

Hank Johnson, isn't he McKinney's successor?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure this wouldn't get anywhere under the Democrats either.

Because a registered member of a party can't disagree with a single decision made by another individual in that party?

MaxQue must think the Republicans are a Canadian party.
