Yes of course. I mean think about it, with all the idiotic garbage said by teabagger conservatives and True Leftist idiots, why on Earth would any political satire have to make fun of liberals? It's mind boggling. Plus I don't like it when satire is making fun of things I like so I really hate it when this happens.

The Daily Show is good but it's more like "mostly liberal 90% of the time". Luckily John Oliver's show seems to fit the bill pretty well so I'm loving that. He's staying away from that "Haha, look at all this really stupid things these Republicans did...oh and by the way here's something stupid from a liberal too" thing Jon Stewart does from time to time that drives me up the wall. I'm hoping now there's an Onion knockoff that's 100% liberal instead of making fun of conservatives 90% of the time and occasionally poking fun at the left like The Onion does.

No, political stupidity knows no ideological bounds. Satire is a tool useful for making aware of all stupidity, so why limit it to just liberalism?

Especially since liberalism is a tight-rope between True Left moonbattery/True Left justified skepticism and  Centrist Moderation/Centrist Stupidity.

the American right satirizes itself, so it's a low-hanging fruit.  liberals are also more likely to understand and appreciate devices such as satire.  there's also an ideological function here that discourages left-of-Democratic action, but we don't need to get into that.

I wonder how many dumb conservatives haven't figured out that Colbert isn't one of them.

I think there's merit to the argument that conservative comedy is way way harder, and conservative political satire specifically is sort of an oxymoron. Satire is about poking fun at an establishment or dogma, and conservatism (taken at face value) is about the preservation of establishment and tradition, so conservative comedy often comes off as really ignorant or meanspirited. Anyone remember that horrific Daily Show ripoff Fox News tried out several years back?

Even so, I think there's still plenty of opportunities to make fun of left-wing groups and causes, and don't really care for the sort of echo chamber "this has to be all liberal, all the time!" creates. Social media has done plenty of that already.

Here's a great example of the really s**ty, ignorant types of skits that 1/2 Hour News Hour tried out as why a lot of right-wing comedy ends up just being super cringeworthy.

Conservative people seem to be very suspicious of everything and therefore unable to laugh at a joke unless they know in advance that the joke is not on them, so I agree to some extent.  You will never see a conservative Keith Olbermann who makes fun of himself all the time.
But to be honest most satire isn't particularly funny.

It's funnier that way. Still, South Park should be the only non-left wing politically commentary.

Isn't being self-critical of your own party's flaws inherent to its success?

I do understand it grates when people have the stupid urge to be all Moderate Hero and criticize every side "to give balance", but satire shouldn't be a political advert.

Plays like Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet or even comedies, when Irony or satire was used to in many ways to make fun of the English King, has set precedent for the ground work of satire being more of a liberal thing than a conservative one.

And whether it is Late Night or Saturday Night Live, or whether it is Bill Mahr, it is still used today.

OC or BRTD?

anyone ever seen The Thick of It, btw? That's proof that good satire can mock both sides, while not being stupid moderate heroes.

Obviously moderate heroism is pretty boring, but I find plenty of comedy targeted at the left to be funny: I'm willing to laugh at myself and people with political views like me. I almost find it odd that people don't do this.

The thing BRTD hasn't told us is that he's actually writing satire aimed at liberals.

Satire done by conservatives against liberals is rare, but satire done by libertarians against liberals is not (see:  South Park, memes, etc.)

That's not satire, that's sarcasm, and almost all of it is a single-issue wonk against "political correctness".

Even if it was, it's not well done in the least.
