It's obvious the GOP will win here. The democrats have no candidates who have a chance.

If Justice is willing to outspent the Republican candidate significantly he has a decent shot. Of course it will be difficult with groups like the RGA but if their hung up in NC then maybe he can.

Well Conway outspending Bevin significantly worked so it'll work here too!

I'm guessing R+1, though is there any chance Kessler drops down to this?

Has anyone noticed how much crap the desperate Republicans have been throwing at Jim Justice? That low-energy loser Bill Cole really is afraid of his incoming landslide loss.

Justice is clearly the favorite to win now. This will be clearly an upset, due to republican nature of WVa.

I thought I was negative on the future of CAPPalachian coal but Evan Kurtz at Morgan Stanley makes me look like a pollyanna

http://www.platts.com/latest-news/coal/houston/coal-consumption-in-2016-could-drop-to-636-million-27051412

If I had anything other than a Fed job in WV, I wouldn't be spending a dime this Xmas.

Will he have a 5% or 10% margin of victory?

Kind of humorous story in the state lege.

State Sen Dan Hall, who switched parties after the 2014 election to give the Rs control of the state senate, was offered a job with the NRA, which he intended to leave the Senate to take.  Now, the job itself sounds like good old fashioned graft--a nice reward for his party switching, but there's a fly in the ointment -- WV doesn't hold special elections to replace openings, the party of the exiting sen/rep submits three names to the governor and the governor chooses the replacement.  The twist is that since Sen Hall was elected as a Democrat, there is some debate as to which party gets to submit names for a replacement (though it looks like the law indicates it would be the Democrats who get to submit names).  So, Sen Hall has had to tear up his resignation letter and go back to Senate until the issue can be resolved.  Hopefully this costs him a tremendous amount of money.

Still rooting for Justice to be the nominee, both Kessler and Goodwin are fine candidates but they can't self fund. And would rather see the DGA focusing on MT, NC, & MO while Justice can still keep WV competitive with his $$.

Dems need to get Dunne & especially Van Ostern, in first, GOP are leading in NC, because NH os key for a Clinton prez, and a Dem senate.

Tomblin made two legislative appointments today - HD's 21 and 25. Both southern districts that elected Democrats. Nothing on SD9 yet, though.

Does WV's Lt. Gov break ties in the Senate? If so, then Republicans would maintain control, since the Lt. Gov is a Republican, correct?

Ah, I see, the President of the Senate serves as LG. Is there no tie breaking mechanism in the State Senate then?

No, it's an impending constitutional crisis.

WV Republicans passed a poverty wage ("right to work") law so I hope this is a wake-up call.

Looks like Republicans will keep the majority, after all:
