http://hoh.rollcall.com/too-cool-boehners-thanksgiving-brine-falls-short-of-usda-recommendation/?dcz=

Also of note, the speaker says he rinses off his turkey, which is apparently unnecessary, according to USDA. That’s mostly because that splashes bacteria all over the place and cooking is the only way to kill all the harmful bacteria.

I can hear every uber-conservative household in America rushing out last-minute right now to get a brand new turkey to prepare this way, just to stick it to those USDA know-it-alls.

Mostly unrelated to this post, but last night while I was at work (at a supermarket) I had multiple ask me if we'd be open today, which we are from 7-4. Their responses were mostly enthusiastic, as if they hadn't yet completed their Thanksgiving shopping. I'm not working, thank God, but I can't believe there are people in this world who are so lazy that they'd force people to spend time away from their families on Thanksgiving just so they can wait til the last second to buy their food...it's rather baffling.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled program.

My mom has a tendency to wash poultry, too. I tell her the same thing. She gets pissed and does it anyway. Even flashing my experience working at a restaurant and knowing that's not what the kitchen does didn't work.

People are stuck in their ways on this issue.

I wouldn't trust a man who looks like an oompa loompa to cook anything that isn't chocolate.

Now, if it's chocolate, then Boehner is allowed to weigh in.

I think it is a generational thing perhaps. My Mom has always done that.
