^There are too many minorities in Toronto, you see.

The two cities are probably close to equally white, although avoiding minorities in Jacksonville is probably easier as long as you don't live in one of the black neighborhoods.

But yeah Toronto. I can't think of ANY advantages to Jacksonville.

Besides not being cold, is there anything good about Jacksonville?

I always thought the Canadian stereotype of the supposedly rude Americans - like the internal American stereotype of the supposedly rude New Yorkers - was that they are brash, in-your-face, aggressive, while the internal Canadian stereotype of the supposedly rude Torontonians was that they are unsmiling, unfriendly, cold: perhaps (?) more like the way London is seen in the UK or Edinburgh in Scotland. But different stereotypes, really.

In reality this is all pretty dubious. Mostly people are decently friendly everywhere with a few jerks. There are some differences in terms of how outgoing or direct it's normal to be with a stranger, but this isn't anything too deep.

Anyway, as to the question: Toronto, of course.

Back a while we had a poll where Fargo, ND - I think - of all godforsaken places, beat out some town just south of L.A. I mean seriously. Not normal.

@DemPGH: Perfectly normal if said town South of LA is a lifeless, but still sort of loud suburb and the weather is so predictably the same you wonder if someone put you in The Truman Show.

Fargo would in comparison look like a send despite being in North Dakota.

And some of us like our weather cold.

...It was Irvine, wasn't it?

Too many Leafs fans in Toronto. And Ford Nation. Ugh.

Yup, this exactly. For me "Beaches and Palm Trees" sound incredibly boring.

Irvine would make a good test. University there, warm weather, etc. If a person would pass it up for some tundra somewhere, I would really wonder. But actually, the poll in question was Bakersfield. It still runs in my mind that there was some other suburb of L.A. against Fargo or some place in northern Minnesota, but I can't find it. Predictably, Fargo beat out Bakersfield. 0_o

Hey, to each his own! Honestly, if I actually had to choose between Toronto and Jacksonville, I'd look at more than climate, but Jacksonville would have a leg up out of the gate on that count.
