The fact that a majority of voters supporting a recall is a "victory" for Governor FitzGerald really says it all.

Well,
A 3/5 majority is needed, so yes Tongue.

Recalling a Governor is serious business. Especially when you're recalling one on the basis of him being unpopular. The 3/5ths majority is warranted.

You know what the right thing for Fitzy would be after such a result? Resigning.
How can he have any mandate to do anything if a majority of Midwestern voters wants him to be recalled from office? He may be constitutionally eligible to still serve, but come on, Fitzy, save your dignity and don't do this to yourself. I know it may be unfair that the usual witch hunt hit you this time, but save dozens of your nerves and resign. It is the right thing to do after all this...

It's too early to tell how many "Yes" votes there will be, but it will be a tough road if there are more yeses than nos.

It will be even if there are one or two or three more "yes" votes, too. Even that it came to this vote... You don't need to do this Fitzy... Take a break, and try again later. It is really no shame to do it. You are not getting any further with this here... And I trust that you know that the same as I do...

It seems the recall is truly over, but I do believe the result is kind of a pyrrhic victory...

In addition, BaconBacon96's vote is invalid due to him editing it after the allowed timeframe of 20 minutes.

Aye (10)Sad Foucaulf, Cris, RR1997, deadman, rooney, gaworth, Snowguy, Gustaf, Hashemite, Velasco
Nay (9)Sad Vega, Marokai, Fritz, angus, TNF, Arturo Belano, LebronFitzgerald, thomas D, Gass
Abstain (1): ilikeverin

It does appear mathematically improbable that the Governor is recalled at this point. There of course can be all sorts of unexpected happenings and shenanigans in close elections at the clock winds down, as we've seen in the past. I'm not sure what's going through his mind, but after all of this national hoopla, the last thing I'd be doing if I were in his position is resigning. It appears that he will have a Althing that is ready to get things done and work with him, so what else can a Governor ask for?

Baconbacon's vpte is valid Adam,
the 15 minutes limit is a federal law for federal elections,
the MW recall is a local election.

And?

I can't recall an instance that has went to court where if a regional election is conducted in accordance with federal election law, that the vote(s) in question statuses' were reversed. I do remember elections where the regional law was more stringent than the federal law (like in the IDS, where you had to have like 50 posts to vote in regional elections at one point), and those provisions were ultimately stricken down by the Supreme Court and the de-facto federal election booth eligibility requirements et al were the new law of the land.

Well, I'm all the time wrong for consitutional issues Tongue,
But a federal law doesn't apply to local elections no?
I mean, one of the reasons Riley isn't in jail is because he asked people to invalidate their vote in a local election (the last MW gubernational election), a not a federal election.

Public approval?

It's remarkable how disciplined and uncritical are laborites in this region. The party machine works efficiently, with the likely result of a widely unpopular governor staying in power. However, I wonder what benefits will produce this Pyrrhic victory for your party in the long term. It's clear that Labor is a highly bureaucratised electoral machinery devoid of moral and ideological principles. If your goal as political organisation is only to maintain your crumbling power share, congrats.

Long live to Charles Darwin, the true Governor of the Midwest.
