Recalling a Governor is serious business. Especially when you're recalling one on the basis of him being unpopular. The 3/5ths majority is warranted.

It does appear mathematically improbable that the Governor is recalled at this point. There of course can be all sorts of unexpected happenings and shenanigans in close elections at the clock winds down, as we've seen in the past. I'm not sure what's going through his mind, but after all of this national hoopla, the last thing I'd be doing if I were in his position is resigning. It appears that he will have a Althing that is ready to get things done and work with him, so what else can a Governor ask for?

I can't recall an instance that has went to court where if a regional election is conducted in accordance with federal election law, that the vote(s) in question statuses' were reversed. I do remember elections where the regional law was more stringent than the federal law (like in the IDS, where you had to have like 50 posts to vote in regional elections at one point), and those provisions were ultimately stricken down by the Supreme Court and the de-facto federal election booth eligibility requirements et al were the new law of the land.

I mean, one of the reasons Riley isn't in jail is because he asked people to invalidate their vote in a local election (the last MW gubernational election), a not a federal election.

It's remarkable how disciplined and uncritical are laborites in this region. The party machine works efficiently, with the likely result of a widely unpopular governor staying in power. However, I wonder what benefits will produce this Pyrrhic victory for your party in the long term. It's clear that Labor is a highly bureaucratised electoral machinery devoid of moral and ideological principles. If your goal as political organisation is only to maintain your crumbling power share, congrats.
