Louisiana officials are refusing to enforce the ruling, presumably indefinitely. Mississippi officials are waiting for the 5th circuit to lift its stay on MS SSM first, although that's actually not a requirement for SSM to begin in MS.

This really has moved so fast, looking back, thanks to the courts. I remember when Illinois legalized gay marriage in 2013, we were the 15th state to do so. Two years later, we've got 50.

It seems both MS and LA enacted the SC ruling today, which means SSM is now legal in all states.

There appears to be a difference between the two states.

In MS, the state attorney general has reversed course and advocated for following the ruling. At least some counties are complying.

In LA, all state officials are still recommending waiting until the 25 day period in which SCOTUS could decide to rehear the case has ended. However, select counties are rebelling and issuing licenses.

I expect the same for Texas, also in the Fifth Circuit, very soon.

You should color it also to how much time after Obergfell a state "joined" like that one guy did.

Same day, or some days later.

This is still showing issues in some of those green states.

... and close the thread to leave it as a historical document.

It's all over except for some isolated counties in Alabama and Kentucky -- and one isolated county (among 256) in Texas. SSM was legalized in Guam, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa, too.
