Members of this forum have already run for office.

Some even hold office.

This thread has generated some excellent, and funny, answers.

That being the case, I would then assume that any meandering on this forum is not prohibitive to a political career IRL.

Either that, or members of this forum are imbued with such integrity that they would never use postings on this forum by now public figures to impact them in any negative way.

Besides, in the vast majorities of cases, I would assume that members of this forum do not know who another poster actually is IRL anyway.

Anyway, we had a number of posters running either successfully or unsuccessfully for office, including quite controversial ones such as Assad, Phil or DWTL, and I don't think there ever was such problem.

Didn't Assad first scrub his posting history though?

What offices did they run for?

IIRC he held (or is still holding) some local office. He also ran for Congress, losing Republican primary to an incumbent.
