Which 2008/12 candidate will Carly Cantwin be the equivalent of? Looks promising once she jumps in, but a chance never really materializes?

Re: Who will Fiorina be comparable to?

No one gives Carly Fiorina thought—let alone compares her to anything or anyone.

Michele Bachmann. She'll likely be the only woman in the race. Also, if she makes it to Iowa I don't think she'll do much better than Bachmann did.

If we are speaking of comparing her to the 2012 GOP pool of candidates. I can't come up with anyone because I doubt she will ever be leader of the group even for a the week. It seemed as if everyone lead the pack for about a week in 2012. So I am not sure I can perfectly compare her. As scary as it sounds Bachmann lead for a short minute in 2012. So other then her gender probably no one. She isn't as extreme as Bachmann socially speaking but I don't see her getting very far in a pool of better known and in some cases more experienced names.

I think she's a hundred millionaire, but not a billionaire.  She doesn't have enough money to buy the election on her own.

I guess like Pawlenty. Pawlenty should have won it all, but oh well.

She might fill the Perot-esque "rich guy with big, weird ideas" niche that Herman Cain occupied in 2012.

Elizabeth Dole in 2000 seems about right.

There isn't anyone from 2008/ 2012 in her mold. She might have some superficial similarities to Herman Cain, but I don't see her pandering to the base to the same extent.

But Lizzy Dole was kind of a big deal. Fiorina isn't.

I doubt it. The only one should be considered for would be Secretary of Commerce, but I suspect that will be one of the departments that a bunch of candidates will campaign on eliminating.

A bunch of candidates probably will, but I doubt the eventual nominee will.

One of the big differences is that 2016 is a very different primary than 2000.

Dole and Fiorina would both be women in their early 60s who were not elected to statewide office, but who did lead organizations whose names are familiar to votes (HP and the Red Cross.)

Dole was in a primary with a clear frontrunner. Fiorina would enter a much more crowded race.

It's possible that both would lose primaries to one of George HW Bush's sons.
