US Number 1 song:  "The Love You Save" by the Jackson Five
UK Number 1 song: "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry
Canada Number 1 song:  "The Long and Winding Road" by the Beatles

Number 1 Box Office Film:  Kelly's Heroes

My autistic brother loves the opening scene to that movie where they play "Burning Bridges." He plays it over and over and over again. Still is a good movie though (and In The Summertime is awesome too).

"Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls. November 1995. It's still one of my favorite songs of all time.

Ooh, this is interesting. Because last night I went to a grand dinner, then staggered home at midnight (turning into a pumpkin along the way) half-cut, and went into my local 24 hour supermarket to pick up food, and they were playing the song I thought for a long time was number one when I was born.

The song I always thought was number one when I was born was We All Stand Together by Paul McCartney and the Frog Chorus. I thought that because my mother told me that was number one when I was born. Indeed she told me she got the hospital radio to play it for her.

But, that song wasn’t number one when I was born. I could forgive that if the real number one was something instantly forgotten. And if I were a lady and the number one when my first- and only-born son was born was, say the Joe Dolce Band, hell, I’d tell the kid the number one was actually the great Third Man-inspired Vienna.

But looking at Wikipedia the number one when I was born was actually Band Aid, Do They Know It’s Christmas. I can’t stand Geldof, but really? You’d pretend instead Paul bloody McCartney and a song out of Rupert Bear The Movie was up there instead? What’s wrong with my old lady? If you have to pretend why not say I was born ten days earlier and Frankie were number one?

(And yes I turn 30 quite quite quite soon Sad )

Box Office: RoboCop
US Single: Heart - Alone
UK Single: Pet Shop Boys - It's a Sin

Obviously, I'm familiar with the first two. I can't say the same of that top UK single.
