If New York Rep. Peter King surprisingly won the GOP presidential nomination, who would be his vice presidential running mate?

Probably a Governor or one of the new Senators.

King presumably wouldn't need anyone to help him navigate Washington.

Who would agree to that knowing it's career suicide?  The only one delusional enough that I can think of is Steve King (R-IA).

Rubio wouldn't take the job for King. If he runs and loses the nomination along with his senate seat, he'd probably take the VP spot for a more credible candidate, but more likely take a run at the governorship in 2018.

I think the most likely VP for Peter King would be Bobby Jindal or John McCain. Jindal wants to be president really bad, and a doomed to fail vice presidential run would likely be the only way to keep his name in contention for 2020. He also adds to Kings ticket as much as anyone else.
McCain also really wants to be president, and may actually take the job of VP if offered. Yeah he's 80 so it's not likely, unless you consider that nobody would want to be attached to King unless they literally had nowhere else to go. McCain is Kings ideological twin.

I think you nailed it. Anyone want to make a Hillary/Kaine (or whatever) v. P. King/Jindal map?

Then their campaign posters and literature would read VOTE KING KING.  Smiley

Oh God. Shocked King winning the nomination would guarantee a vote for Gary Johnson from me. Wink And the funny thing is that King is my congressman and I actually worked on  his campaign in 2010 (I was only 16 back then and that was before I really cared about politics, let alone knew what his stances on anything were).

For his running mate, probably he'd pick someone like Lindsey Graham. Only because he'll probably be the only one dumb enough to accept. I can easily see Johnson breaking 20% and perhaps even  winning a state if King is the nominee, assuming he is invited to the debates like Perot was.

Oh let’s say Billy Hutchinson, harmless as he is. Or the late Billy Wright, not so harmless as he was. Gotta have that “balanced ticket”!

As it is I hope Peter King falls into a lake of boiling treacle, preferably on a primary campaign visit to the Levittown Molasses Manufactory, Inc. Conservatism - hell, the world - can do without an oh-so-merry sympathiser with terrorists murdering innocents.
