Illinois Lawmakers Pass Same-Day Voter Registration

The Illinois General Assembly voted to make same-day voter registration a permanent feature of state elections.

The legislation passed the House and Senate and now goes to the governor.

Every state where we have a trifecta should pass automatic voter registration and WA/OR/CO-style mail-in voting ASAP. Same-day registration is nice but doesn't really make much of a difference.

Yeah, same-day registration is a good start and better than nothing.

But automatic voter registration is the way to go, because poll workers could then focus on the important things on election day rather than being stressed with registering all the people who want to register on election day ...
