I am a bit worried about this LA race. It is guaranteed to go to a runoff, right?
Yes, unless a candidate breaks 50% on election night.

If this is serious, why?  Are you worried about a D vs. D or D vs. Lefty I runoff due to vote splitting? Or are you worried about Campbell tapping into disaffected Trumpy turnout and beating an R outright like JBE did last year?

Yeah, I'm worried about Campbell winning the runoff, especially if control of the Senate is already settled. Democrats can still win a Senate race in LA against a weak Republican. I'm generally worried about open seats - they can cause much trouble.
Absolutely. If Landrieu faced a weak candidate in 2014 she would have been reelected. Open Senate seats should never be taken for granted. (See Rick Berg 2012 as a classic example.) It would also be interesting (and scary) if the runoff ended up deciding Senate control.

Monica Monica is a cooler name though.
I honestly missed that at first. Thanks for pointing it out.

Well, I always said that this seat was more vulnerable for Republicans than most people had assumed. That being said, I don't think Duke will win the GOP primary. A generic R vs. Campbell runoff will be competitive anyway, though.

There's no GOP primary.

Oops, totally forgot about that. Either way,  I doubt that Duke will make the runoff.
I'd really like to see polls. This is kind of scary now. There are a ton of other Republicans in the race. But even then, Duke has no chance, right?

With David Duke getting in the race, and the popular John Kennedy also running, I think it would have been helpful to the Republicans and to Louisiana had Representatives John Fleming and Charles Boustany dropped out and ran for reelection instead.

I also haven't heard of anybody named 'Charles' since Chuck E Cheese went upscale and became Charles E Cheese III.

In another fast food restaurant matter, McDonald's is in some sort of legal trouble, Mayor McCheese has been indicted!
How would Boustany do against Angelle? Fleming's race is divided, so he'd probably win. But it's too late now, right?

Just wondering, if Kennedy wins, who becomes Treasurer? Is there a special election, or does the governor appoint someone?

LA-Sen: This was expected, but Micth Landrieu is endorsing Fayard.
Wait, I thought he already did? Or did only Mary endorse him previously?

NC-Sen: Republicans worried Burr isn't taking his race seriously.

LA-Sen: Campbell releases his tax returns, Fayard won't.

In one of the stranger photo ops I've seen of this race, Maness seems to be appealing to the alt right at a Milo Yiannopoulos event:

The things you'll do when you're trailing freakin David Duke in the polls...
Looks like Maness and Duke may actually be competing for some of the same votes. I really hope Duke does not make the runoff, that makes me less worried.

Who is expected to win in the 3rd district?
I think Higgins is favored but I'm rooting for Angelle.

^ Really? How? There aren't any counties in LA, so IDK where they'd get results from...
Parish results, you know what he means. I remember I once had a history teacher who adamantly said "I don't care what Louisiana says, they are called counties, not parishes." LOL.

<1% in, Higgins leads 68-32 in the 3rd. Poor Angelle.
