Cowell would be a better candidate statewide than McIntyre, plus I really don't think McIntyre will run unless he thinks he's got it in the bag.

It would be better to run someone with low name recognition against Burr(which can be fixed) then to run Hagan against him who seems widely despised)which really can't be fixed. Also, it's looking like North Carolinians are having buyers remorse with Thom Tillis. They get the representation they deserve.

I agree. A Hagan-Burr race would be very predictable.

Cowell was the most likely of any of these candidates to beat Burr. Burr is safe.

McIntyre and Heath Shuler are often brought up, but they could have problems turning out the democratic base. Beyond that are a collection of untested pols with low to medium name recognition - senate minority leader Dan Blue, Mayor Allen Jones and State Sen. Josh Stein are mentioned most often.

It seems like all the stars who could actually win this are bowing out. Unless Burr runs a Dole-level campaign, I'm ready to say he's going to get re-elected.

Not true. I am pretty sure he would run ahead of Hillary (who will almost certainly lose the state).

This

To be honest, Mike McIntyre would have had problems with the base because he's really conservative. Shuler is clearly a conservadem , but not so much.

Shuler was the leader of the Blue Dog caucus and voted against Nancy Pelosi for Speaker. Can't imagine there is a marginal difference between him and McIntyre.

Potential option I'm thinking of since I don't know much about Louisiana politics - Jay Dardenne bolts to the Democrats to run for Senate. I'm not sure he could gain traction, but it would be an interesting thought if the Landrieu's decide to abandon all hope.

Dardenne has said that his endorsement of Edwards does not mean he is considering switching parties.

Politicians change their minds.

I like Joseph Cao, I'd think about voting for him if the Democrat was pretty abominable, but dude has a 0% chance of winning.

What a beautiful 2nd district, my god! Somehow George Holding is the most sane candidate.

Would that take votes away from Brannon? Or is Brannon too insignificant to matter in this primary?

Why are democrats raising so much in Louisiana of all places? Post-JBE enthusiasm?

I've been watching bits of this - John Fleming is incredibly low energy and did a bad job, I bet Rob Manness beats him in the polls. Fayard is also kinda low energy, which is why Wulfric supports her I bet.

Loving Campbell, and Kennedy did a good job.

Kennedy seems like the Republican favorite and seems to be running a much stronger campaign than he has in previous times.

Who is expected to win in the 3rd district?
Higgins, but some late breaking stories about unpaid child support could hurt him

meh - Higgins has the whole Trump thing going for him, people feel like he gives a crap about them while Angelle just doesn't. If you connect with someone, it's going to take a lot more than some unpaid child support to beat that back.

R.I.P. Angelle's career - Higgins whuped him by 12 points. The last minute child support scandal I think made Angelle look petty and sad.

I kind of like Higgins, but only if he goes through with his campaign push to reform the prison system.
