why would you have debt, aren't you still in HS?

and yes, the answer for 1 in 5 or so American adults is "less that zero", and probably near half of 18-29s who went to college, a key demographic here, so the <$0 option needs to be included.

thankfully, due to some guile and a stroke of luck, I have no student debt and have a Cornell B.S.  my net worth today is around $3000, though if my mother died tomorrow it would be between $1.2-$1.7m, to the best I can calculate.

I have a high income but still have debt to knock down.  The graduate degree was worth it but will take a while to pay off. I wasted every nickel I made in my 20s, bad idea..yolo.
