Interesting question.  I guess I always say eye-thur when I'm referring to sides, as in "there's a monitor on either side of the room..."  On the other hand, I sometimes say eee-thur, like when I'm singing the Grammar Rock song about Conjunction (because that's the way the guy singing it says it.)

Neither works the same way for me.  (Grammar Rock guy put one pronunciation in my head at a young age, but some others put another pronunciation in there as well.)

m-w.com lists both pronunciations for both words, so I guess I'm doing it right.

"Either" is ee-ther. "Neither" is nee-ther. There are no alternatives.

Option 2 as the first word of the sentence; option 1 everywhere else.

As with a lot of words, I use both pronunciations interchangeably.

Great question.  Both, and I can't figure out why, and I'm pretty sure this stayed consistent through accent changes (American to Aussie).

When saying the phrase "either-or" I pronounce it "ee-thur."

In all other cases, I pronounce it "eye-thur."

Neither is always "nye-thur" and never "nee-thur" when I say it, though.

I can use either, though I think I more often say /i/ther than /aj/ther.

I'm weird on this one. I say it "eee" in speech but when reading it, especially if its academic writing or something serious, I read it as "eye"

Either way, but more like "ee/ah-thuh" and "nee/nah-thuh"...because that's just how Southern drawls  that aren't Texan seem to play out.
