Technically Nix's vote may be invalid and Spamage's valid.

Technically Nix's vote may be invalid and Spamage's valid.

Under the application of any such principle both must be allowed.

By leaving the polls open long enough for NCYankee to cast his vote, I unknowingly indicated that DST was being disregarded. In such a case as this in which it is not clear whether a vote is valid, it is the imperative of the SoFE to count a vote if it is possible rather than to invalidate.

This sounds reasonable enough. I'll count Spamage's vote. Here are the new results:

PROVISIONAL RESULTS

With 11 first preferences for Simfan34 and one abstention, Simfan34 is elected as governor.

With 7 first preferences for Gully Foyle, 2 for Turkisblau, 1 for jojoju98, 1 for Superique, and 1 for Paleobrazilian, Gully Foyle is elected to the Legislative Council.

After redistribution, with 7 preferences for Turkisblau, 2 for Superique, 1 for jojoju98, 1 for Paleobrazilian, and 1 exhausted, Turkisblau is elected to the Legislative Council.

After redistribution, with 8 preferences for Superique, 1 for jojuju98, 1 for Paleobrazilian, and two exhausted, Superique is not elected due to having not implicitly or explicitly accepted his candidacy. Therefore, after redistribution, with 2 preferences for jojoju98 and 10 exhausted, jojoju98 is elected to the Legislative Council.

Atlasian Time Keeping Act for future referenced. Sponsored by TNF for Fritz I believe and passed unanimously.

So you might want to remove the DST offset in your profile Simfan. Tongue

In order for write-in votes to count, the candidate being written-in either has to vote for himself or publically declare he is accepting write-ins for them to be counted. That never happened and so they flowed to the next candidate or exhausted (meaning they went nowhere basically). As the next highest declared candidate with votes, you won. In low turnout regional elections these kinds of things happen. Last month, SMilo nearly won in the South even though he had only one first preference, he came within .7 of winning once preference flows were counted.
