Great songs, especially Night. Very underrated.

A-ha, I remember them! If I were to put together a top 10 list that's current, "Rock the Casbah" would be on it. The British influence on rock is great.

Okay. . .

Rock the Casbah - The Clash
Time Passages - Al Stewart (that's the mellow fix)
Santa Baby - Madonna
Jingle Bell Rock - Hall and Oates (the video is hilarious)
Different Drum - Linda Ronstadt / Stone Poneys
Love Shack - B-52s
Vogue - Madonna
If You Leave - OMD

. . . Eh, not 10, but that's off the top of my head. I can work with it in my ear and I can also just enjoy it.

Unfortunately I had to get a new computer back in April, so this is only counting stuff from the past seven or eight months, a pretty skewed view.  And not a particularly diverse one.

1. Spoon- Let Me Be Mine
2. Spoon- The Underdog
3. Gabriel Kahane- Calabash and Catamaran
4. Gabriel Kahane- North Adams
5. The National- Humiliation
6. The Hold Steady- Stuck Between Stations
7. King Crimson- Starless
8. Spoon- Knock Knock Knock
9. Spoon- The Beast And The Dragon, Adored
10. Sufjan Stevens- Christmas In The Room

Gee, wonder what's the one CD I actually managed to buy recently?

The highest-ranking classical piece is Philip Glass's Wichita Sutra Vortex, which is not actually my #1 jam but pretty good and shorter than a lot of things, i.e. more liable to be replayed.  The highest longer classical piece is John Adams' Violin Concerto, which is actually my #1 jam (well, #2 after Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra).  Also worth noting: the album I've played in its entirety the most is, completely unsurprisingly, Sufjan's Illinoise.

Other songs that I particularly remember being up near the top on previous computers:
Simon And Garfunkel: Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall
Simon And Garfunkel: America
The Police: Synchronicity II
Elvis Costello: Every Day I Write The Book
Talking Heads: Once In A Lifetime
Spoon: Anything You Want
Arcade Fire: Intervention
Flaming Lips: Fight Test
Radiohead: All I Need
Cake: Commissioning A Symphony In C
Paul Simon: Song About The Moon
The Beatles: I Am The Walrus (which is #11 now)

From my last.fm:

1. Animal Collective - The Purple Bottle
2. Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Fright Night (Nevermore)
3. God Help the Girl - Perfection as a Hipster
4. Panda Bear - Last Night at the Jetty

6. Crystal Stilts - Graveyard Orbit
7. Grimes - Genesis
8. Eyeless in Gaza - New Risen
9. Cats on Fire - The Smell of an Artist

I'm surprised at how many of the songs I've been listening to very recently are on the list. I'm also surprised at how orientated towards very new releases it is - I really thought I listed to more older music than that.
