Why should we have a permanent 'defense sector' in the first place? I for one find it disgusting that there should be anyone who makes his or her living off off selling implements of death for profit.

Senator, with all due respect, this is reality. Simply because we won't have a standing army anymore, simply because we won't do anything on that sector, that would in no way stop IS or whoever. There is a difference between a sensible non-interventionist policy, and simply doing nothing. But also, just because we commit ourselves to help other nations in times of peril, that does not mean that we need to intervene in every conflict all over the world.

Yes, there are evil people in the world, windjammer. They're called capitalists.

Yes, there are evil people in the world, windjammer. They're called capitalists terrorists and human traffickers.

I'd rather not have a standing army TNF but that the chances of that went out the window a long time ago. Are you not aware there are governments that actively aid sex traffickers. Are you also not aware that there are groups that actively persecute on the basis of religious belief or lack thereof? Since there is evil, good people often have to step up and stop them. That's just simple reality.

No it's perverting it. Note that most if not all known major trafficking countries already have crappy human rights records towards woman and religious minorities. ISIS, the Saudis and numerous other ,mostly Islamic, governments.

So treating human beings as a commodity for sale is a 'perversion' of an economic system based upon the commodification and sale of everything?

Beyond TNF's hyperbolic views on capitalism, I believe most of the Senate actually has a clear view on this effort, and Bacon King's amendment creates a reasonable compromise which I also believe most of us can support without problem.

Could I ask the Senate to vote to enter a final vote?

Yes. It is. Capitalism in its truest form does not work without a respect for human life and dignity along with sound morals. Like the ones expounded in the The Torah, The Prophets and the Writings, and the B'rit Chadasha

I motion for a final vote.
I would like the other proposals I have posted in the legislation introduction thread could be debated as well.

Lol, pure capitalism, as you're expounding has no moral code. It's the maximisation of profit.

This is correct. Pure capitalism is dangerous because profit is its only motive, and that's why we have regulations in place to protect people.

Pure anything is generally dangerous.
