And what would be the platform?
I mean conservative as if Ted Cruz ran a third party campaign.

Presumably, Ted Cruz would be as far to the right as Ted Cruz. Voted as far to the right as Ted Cruz.

I think the OP was thinking it terms of a third party that could actually elect candidates to office.

I have a hard time believing that any third party to the right of the Republicans could elect anybody to any meaningful office. Of course, that probably stems from my skepticism towards the effectiveness of third parties in general.

Full on fascist would have a tough time existing in America without a preceding national tragedy.  We are too happy to compare everyone we don't like to Hitler.  The parallels would be drawn instantly, and a lot of fascism is in "how you go about things", rather than simply policy, so to speak.

I was mostly being hyperbolic for effect. I agree with you in general.

Ted Cruz is at the corner of far right and electable. After him, you're too far right (and I don't think Cruz can win as it is).

NF style politics would make no sense - either electorally or logically - in America.

There are some signs that Santorum is shifting that way. It would actually fill a good gap in America that hasn't really been filled since Wallace's candidacy in 1968-ie an explicitly anti-socialist but also anti-big business populism to appeal to alienated elements of the white working-class. The National Front admittedly started out advocating neoliberal economics, but the same thing could happen with certain Tea Party politicians.

And like France, the system favours a duopoly. If National Front style politicians show up, they'll almost certainly be a faction in the GOP.

Nah, Santorums economic views are pretty mainline Republican. Never seen him say anything similiar to the National front on economics.

The NF is pretty leftist on economic issues.
