It's not clear to me that this bill is constitutional, and as Duke had said, these sort of things have not ever worked in the past. Therefore, I am vetoing this bill.

A fine decision. I don't see any reason to saddle anyone with keeping a list together that no one will read and has no penalty for violating its terms.

I thank the southern governor for having vetoed a such unworkable law. The concept was since the beginning dumb.

It would not have gotten past me either, judicially speaking.

Terrible decision, but I can't say I'm surprised.

You would have struck down a bill creating a suggestion list? I might propose a few resolutions so they can get challenged and struck down.

Speaking as a conservative, I see no reason to support DeadPrez over Flo. Ask Flo, he'll agree with conservatives that we need to take action to stop the spread of communism in Atlasia. That's what Labor is. It is quickly becoming a communist party.

I believe Flo will pursue and enact policies that are suitable to conservatives. DeadPrez will neither pursue nor enact. He'll take the oath of office and leave after a few months without much happening in between those two milestones.

Why anyone would vote to not re-elect Flo is beyond me.

You mean just like in November with BK and Cris...oh wait.... Tongue

It isn't an accurate statement to say that Cris is a conservative. I would honestly disagree with the notion that he's much to the right of Flo, if he's to the right at all.

Also, clever jab on the whole activity thing. Clever indeed.

So tell me about some of these conservative policies that Flo will pursue. He certainly isn't a communist, but Flo as a conservative is a novel idea.

Remember Progressive Flo? All the commercial references. I threw one in that thread, but it got lost I hope at least someone appreciated it. Tongue

I wasn't talking about ideology alone when I mentioned November, but the post as a whole. Tongue

We did it!

From all of your hard work, all of your messaging, campaigning, and most important, voting, had brought us over the finish line in a blazing line of glory, winning in a landslide.

This victory showed us quite a few things, including one of the highest turnout rates (if not the highest -- I'm not about to look through 10 years of voting booths) in Southern history: at 88%. We saw the highest turnout rate here as well; our election had a 16% larger turnout rate than the National At-large election, and a 33% larger turnout rate than the Northeast Assembly election. We saw a victory that saw us win by a 2-1 margin, and I'm thankful and honored that the South chose to re-elect me, and they chose the route of activity and big ideas, and we will be doing big things in my second term.

Did I also mention I'm the first incumbent since 2010 to win a second term? Grin

Y'all ain't seen nothing yet. Wink

I'm going to keep this short: Basically we're spending $130b more in the 2014 fiscal budget than necessary (funds funneled towards a program that didn't even exist anymore), so I'm putting together a tax commission, consisting of Potus and Averroes Nix, deciding how and where we'll put these tax dollars to use.

While I'm here, I'd like to ask if a few Southerners could move to our unpopulated states. We have no persons in Mississippi, New Brunswick, or Newfoundland. If you live in one of the states that has a big population (I'm talking to y'all registered in Texas) please consider moving! Cheesy

I've spoken with SoIA Barnes, and we, along with a few other members of the Federal government, will be discussing the best way to crush the insurgency. More information will be provided as time goes on.
