What kind of terrible person would choose a random suburb in California over Asheville?

Because if you live in an L.A. suburb, you can at least visit all the SoCal locations easily, but with Asheville there's not really things to do in the surrounding area that are as exciting.

All SoCal locations are boring if you aren't a surfer dude, and it's always that same beachy attitude. That's The Truman Show levels of blandness, with Irvine being the absolute nadir of wrongness.

Asheville has nature, it has the same exciting college-town thing going for it inside, the barbecue is absolutely top-notch

And finally gas prices are cheaper.
