I'm not sure I support the Governor being able to appoint himself Bank Chair. If that were to be amended out of the final bill, I would vote for it.

I do share your concern, that is why I said the Althing would have to confirm the nomination. However, I am open to an amendment that would remove it.

I'll support this. In fact the reason why this position was left vacant in the first place was due to an Althing appointment, so I would be perfectly fine with allowing dual office holding to avoid that down the road.

The MW Bank Chair is a pretty minor position to say the least (it's not even in the Constitution), and I think someone would be capable of holding an elected office and being Bank Chair. Unfortunately, our Constitution does restrict dual office holding with the Chief Judicial Officer, but that's another story.
