Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe resigned early this morning, as part of a continuing dispute over delayed elections and corruption. Lamothe, rumored to be a Presidential candidate in 2015 said he was leaving with his "head held high" over the "remarkable work" of the government. Protesters are also demanding the resignation of the incumbent President Michael Martelly, for similar reasons, and Lamothe's exit may give them momentum.

Supposedly the State Department lobbied against a minimum wage increase in Haiti to keep in place the cheap slavery of the textile industry. I stand with the valiant and righteously angry Haitian people.

They'll be so pleased to hear that.
