An epic battle between two opposite ends of the political spectrum, could this be the most divisive election in modern times, a huge blowout, or something else? YOU DECIDE!!!!!!!!!!

The VP can't be from the same state.

Probably one of the few scenarios in which Warren wins.

Putting Walker on the ticket is going to tip Wisconsin in an election that would surely be as polarizing as this?

Well, certainly not the voters.

I think Cruz has a slight edge, as Warren is also a weak nominee, and the generic environment favors Republicans. But it could easily go Warren's way. Given the candidates and their reputations, it'll certainly be possible for one to be defined by a serious gaffe.

The default map would be Cruz winning the major swing states (which tend to be bunched together very closely.)

Cruz/ Haley- 305 Electoral Votes
Warren/ Kaine- 233 Electoral Votes

Warren is a weak candidate, and also much worse for the democrats.

In Nevada,

And New mexico

if job growth in those two states are still horrible and the states have yet to surpass it's 2007 peak, then the democrats will not win there. They voted for Obama in 2008 due to the huge hispanic population and again in 2012 despite job growth still being worse because Obama was able to retain most of the 2008 voters although there was a swing to romney.

Let's not forgot that Bush won in 2000 and became super super close to winning New Mexico that year when gore had a margin of just 366 votes in that state, the longer a lack of recovery in those two states the more it becomes favorable for any generic GOP candidate.

I think a scenario with Cruz and Warren as the major party candidates could of course spark a strong centrist independent candidacy. If, for example, Christie chose to run as an independent and if he could somehow rake in enough money, the map could look like this:

Christie: 292 EV
Cruz: 125 EV
Warren: 121 EV

Don't be absurd.

Seriously.

It's sad, but I don't think there would be enough room for a strong independent bid with a far-right Republican and a far-left Democrat. Too many people fall in both categories.

It would be interesting if a third party can win a few states, though. If they can keep anyone else from getting 270 electoral votes, the congress would determine the winner.

FWIW, Warren was a registered Republican who voted for Reagan and Bush Sr.

So?  People change, and Warren clearly did.  As has been mentioned several times, Michelle Bachman used to be a liberal Democrat; it doesn't exactly give her "moderate cred" now, haha.

Yeah, no way. Maybe this could work with someone else, but definitely not Christie. It would just ensure Warren's victory.

It just means they have to split the electoral votes of Mass, or possibly Patrick might not make it (if Warren won by less than 6) and it will go to the Senate. Even that can be avoided if one of them goes through the steps to claim residency in another state, like Cheney did.
