Being the opposite end of the average Klansmen (today where they practically a joke obviously) or Westboro does not a good person make.

Fighting misogyny by becoming a misandrist, racism with some more racism, anti-secularism with anti-theism (but especially anti-Christianity) is not something more enlightened, and ultimately a distraction from actual social justice.

And that's not going into my views of porn.

Huh? How on Earth are things like drawing attention to the terrible victim-blaming that occurs to rape victims or bringing light of the testimony of a North Korean refugee (see the link above) anything like what you describe?

But why does that North Korean refugee's testimony have to be in a series of pointless GIFs that distract from the text? Why not just a video or a transcript of her speech?

Let's be real here nobody on tumblr is going to read through a transcript or actually click something to go see a video. A series of GIFs is the most effective way to inform your generation about anything

Perhaps they should? That people, even politically-minded people, are so averse to complex information, in-depth analysis, and very often morally grey issues, and so keen on communicating their views through posterboard scrawlings and Beyonce gifs, is both puzzling and infuriating. Have we really gotten so shallow?

holy christ there's nothing wrong with consuming information in the most efficient way, I'm sure the North Korean lady is fine with people viewing her speech in gif form, it's making it easier for her message to disseminate if anything, stop being a pretentious holier-than-thou

How are gifs even efficient, though? The awkward movement in the gifs makes the text more annoying to read, and chopping it up reduces it to a series of shallow emotional morsels rather than promoting a fuller understanding or spurring analysis or discussion about the North Korean situation and its greater context.

I thought the gifs were more powerful than the video actually. For one she's not a great public speaker (which is completely fine, seeing as how she's just some poor girl who escaped from hell and not someone who normally does this, and it's obvious why she'd have a hard time talking about how such horrifying and traumatic events), and can be difficult to understand, but the gifs not only make it very clear, the text doesn't go away. So the realization of what's being stated is always there and quite clear.

Also much better at grabbing attention and getting people to watch the video. A Tumblr blog with "Watch this video of a defector from North Korea speaking" won't get as many views as one where you read those gifs first and realize exactly what she's talking about.

Maybe we shouldn't be spoonfed information like that?

As pointed out plenty times already, "misandry" is not a real thing that happens, even among the more strident and less-reflective SJWs; neither does "anti-theism" (certainly not in the fedora sense!); the charge of reverse racism can't be dispatched in one sentence but is pretty tendentious as well and– I would argue– rests on a fundamental misunderstanding of what racism is and how it interacts with power

"Reverse racism" is obviously a silly term and many accusations of "misandry" are just paranoia from MRAs with a bad persecution complex (a bit redundant, really ), but I do hope you aren't swallowing the "privilege+power" thing uncritically--while definitely nothing compared to, say, state violence against African Americans, genuine hatred against whites, and especially white men (or at the very least a hatred of male sexuality), is commonplace. The neurotic reformism of privilege politics is both nearly religious (the treatment of privilege as some sort of original sin) and, due to its lack of material analysis or at best shoehorning a half-hearted material analysis into liberal academic platitudes, it ultimately fails to either fully explain the existing power structures or to offer greater solutions beyond the occasional crusade against a Hawaiian shirt or a few sexist trolls.
