I'm happy for Ringo Starr and Lou Reed. Green Day doesn't deserve to get in there already though (if they even do at all).

Also still no Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band or King Crimson... sigh.

Finally SRV! And Ringo is my favorite Beatle, so I'm glad to see him get his due.

Anyway, it's surprising Green Day was eligible before Pearl Jam. But that's because the formers first recording isn't old enough.

I'm extremely happy for Joan and Lou as they should have been in years ago.  They got screwed like Iggy Pop and The Stooges did but at least all three are in now.

Green Day's one of my least favorite bands and them beating Pearl Jam and other quality bands is a joke.

Agree about Beefheart, he always gets ignored.

Pearl Jam isn't eligible until 2016, 25 years after Ten came out in 91. Green Day released their first recording in 1989.

Happy for all the inductees, all are worthy. Hoping for Deep Purple, NWA and Nine Inch Nails next year.

I guess this makes The Beatles the first band where every member has been inducted as a solo artist (in addition to being inducted with the band)?

The Beatles are actually the second. Crosby (The Byrds), Stills (Buffalo Springfield) & Nash (The Hollies) were the first.

But Crosby, Stills & Nash were inducted as a band not as solo artists.

Ah, I misinterpreted as to what you said. Yes the Beatles are the first to all be inducted as a solo act and as a band. CSN was the first bad to have all of its members inducted twice.

Neil Young was actually not inducted with CSN back in 1997, but he is another two time inductee (Solo and Buffalo Springfield).

I Know Pearl Jam isn't eligible yet but I meant the fact Green Day made it ahead of them in their first year is a joke in my book.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame picks who they want to pick. They have been criticized for personal biases in making their selections.

Great class, but they need to induct some of the 50s/early 60s acts, too.  The problem is that the Rock Hall has become so darn political.  If Neil Sedaka, Connie Francis, Frankie Avalon, or Chubby Checker had died of a drug overdose in the 70s, they would've been inducted years ago.

The voting for inductees is usually pretty good as they have hundreds of voters. The problem is the nominating committee, which has only has 41 members. They essentially get to control who gets in. Here's a link to the list:

However, there's also a fan poll (not sure where to vote) and the inductees are always in the top 10. Number two on the most recent one, Nine Inch Nails, did not get in though.
