If for some reason the Democratic Party or Republican Party were to become extremely weak in 2016, and no major candidate wanted to run, who would the respective parties choose?

Hilda Solis for Democrats. She'd be the first female major-party nominee, and the first Hispanic nominee. There are long-term advantages to losing with her.

Ted Cruz for Republicans. The idea is that it would shut up the "A true conservative will win!" people for at least a generation.
