This appears a sad repudiation of the triumphant Goldwater years. Sad

I figure that Goldwater will end up looking a lot like the right-wing LBJ when his legacy is sorted out: admiration by many conservatives for getting much of his domestic priorities through, but with Vietnam and other things as big asterisks.

Although unlike LBJ's domestic policies, I imagine the left will start trying to undo stuff like social security provocation the second it has half a chance (and I suspect it'd be easier than abolishing a social welfare program).  Anyway, a reluctant vote for RFK who seems to have survived the assassination attempt ITTL.
