Learn a new language with DuoLingo (free, and a lot of fun) or Babbel (requires you to pay, but complements Duo very well).

I've just downloaded the app for DuoLingo. I've read all the reviews, and they are very positive. Are you sure this is 100% free? Is there a catch? Is Babbel better?

It's 100% free and there is no catch Smiley It's really addicting and useful.

Unironically reccomending Ingress

Also if you want interesting news to follow right now check out Mexico or Greece

Download paradox games on steam if you want a week to suddenly disappear (EU4 and CK2 easiest for beginners, Vicky2 the best overall)

What part of IL are you in? Options outside of the house are strongly related to your community.

Inside the house, it's hard to improve on those who suggest maps. Wink This is the Atlas Forum after all. I'd recommend learning Dave Redistricting App if you haven't tried it yet, since it figures in many of the maps posted here.

Do a map project about an obscure election and post it on the forum for accolades.

You've got me. I'm going to give it a try.

I've also posted this in the Illinois Executive Mega-Thread, where this probably belongs, but I'll also post it on here.

Muon2: I was going to use Dave's Redistricting App, but it's not responding and it keeps on crashing, and I gave up after trying for a long time. I'm on a MacBook Pro, so my laptop isn't out-of-date or anything.

I'm going to start out with something that is simple and not hard to do.

This is my DRAFT of the results of the Millionaire's Tax Referendum in suburban Cook County, IL by township:

Almost all of the townships voted for the tax (except for Barrington, Lemont, and New Trier). The shading/margins varied drastically though.

What do you guys think of this map?

I will now accept my accolades Tongue

Even though I enthusiastically support gay marriage, I am not gay. I just posted those pick-up lines in the selfie thread for the lulz.

That's a huge age gap.

It's surprisingly difficult to find good ones though. Especially if one prefers nonfiction.

But yeah, books are excellent.

Again, I'm not single you creep Tongue, and I'm also not old enough to get married (I believe 18 is the age where you can get married).

Hahaha. Just kidding about the creep part.

Great name for a reggae duo that includes a midget.

I am interested in some of the suggestions in this thread. Being completely anti-social in high school comes back once a year to bite me in the rear. The volunteering things Snowguy suggested sound fairly interesting, but I don't have a car. But as for the cucumber sandwiches...

Drinking is impossible, however.

Well, being the same age and the same avatar as you are, you could do what I'm doing: finalize a few final college apps, catch up on online classes you've been neglecting, catch up with friends returning home from college, see the last Hobbit movie. If you have any drinks or drugs, save them for New Years'.

Not to mention that I am quite happily married, and my wife would be extremely unhappy with such unfaithful behavior.
