This strikes me as something he can't just shake off.

I honestly don't know. On one hand he has probably a large supporter base in the population, but on the other I don't see how he can effectively govern having completely and totally lost the faith of law enforcement and their respective political allies.

Were we really expecting law enforcement to NOT become petulant children once we had a Mayor who calls them out?

De Blasio is fine and has my support tenfold after seeing how NYPD treat him in office.

On this basis, De Blasio should get out of town and declare mob rule. That seems to be what your suggesting anyway.

You under the impression De Blasio cares about people who disagree with his policies? He doesn't, more so than any politician I have ever seen.

What exactly did De Blasio do to piss off the union? All I can see is that he met with the protestors' group, suggested the police practices could use some improvement, and said his son has to worry about racial profiling.

The 'thin blue line' doesn't like being criticized.  Add some killed cops to the mix, and it gets personal real quick.

He needs to give Scott Walker a call tonight and ask him for advice. And then tomorrow morning he needs to smash the police union.

Public sector unions are OK in some cases but aren't OK in other cases? Police unions are doing the same thing every other public sector union does - advocating for their membership. Quite aggressively, too.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander too.

Now, if he wants to really be done, push further left and wind up in a new pissing contest with Cuomo. Once Cuomo stands in front of the NYSE and drapes his arm around Scott Stringer in early 2017, that's when De Blasio is done.

I thought there was a sex scandal or something.

Why would he resign? Of course he'll run again in 2017, if he didn't already run for higher office.

Stay put. I don't know if he can run for president in 2016 if Hillary declines with this tension with him and the NYPD. Rove and Rudy would discuss this on Fox daily if he were the 2016 Democratic nominee. Wait and see for now.

Voted for De Blasio last year, this was in the middle of my rightward shift when i still had some affinity for the democrat party.  This is probably the third democrat in a row i regret voting for, Obama, DeBlasio and recently Cuomo. the only ones who didn't turn out to be crap was Meng and Gilibrand.

Bloomberg should of been allowed to run for another term. But De Blasio's opponent Joe Lhota was not very challenging or charismatic even though i'd probably approve of Joe Lhota more than De Blasio considering Lhota was a bloomberg clone.

De Blasio isnt done if he wants another term given the demographics hugely in his favor. But its mostly just hardcore leftists that still approve of him.

Three cheers for Bill de Blasio standing up to those overpaid, power-hungry union thugs who are literally killing the taxpayers. FF!

Yep, he probably won't crack 70% the next time he runs. What a shame.
