In the spirit of all the favourite album, song, etc. threads.

Some films that stood out to me (in no particular order) were:

Ida
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Winter Sleep
Force Majeure

I feel like that's a pretty boring, conventional list, but I've been a bit slack with films this year (thesis to write and all that), and I haven't really seen enough to construct a top five or ten tbh. I missed Boyhood when it came out here but given the (virtual) consensus acclaim I'm eager to catch up on it. I'm also keen to see Birdman, Mr. Turner and Inherent Vice when they come out here but that probably won't be until 2015.

There are still so many I haven't seen. Grand Budapest Hotel and Gone Girl will definitely be on the list. Noah, as well, I don't think it gets enough credit, but I'm a huge Aronofsky fanboy.

I agree on Grand Budapest Hotel and Gone Girl.  I also greatly enjoyed What We Do in the Shadows.

I mentioned it in another thread, but I watched Boyhood for the 2nd time last night, and it was even better than I remembered. Patricia Arquette must be the runaway favorite for sup pitting actress.

I forgot about Gone Girl, but that's definitely one to catch up on too.
