When it hits the fan in a primary, you want someone you can count on, someone that can give it to you straight. Not family. Score one for false impartiality. He's not serious.

Of course, Sarah's been leading Huckabee's PAC since something like 2009 or 2010, so this move was choreographed years in advance.

How convenient that Bill Clinton and Mike Huckabee hail from a place called Hope. Very American, that.

Already mentioned that O'Malley was attending this convention in South Carolina, but Chafee and Sanders will be there too:

So we've already talked about how Carson is set to announce his 2016 plans on May 4th.  Well, it looks like he's scheduled a 3 day trip to Iowa to immediately follow his announcement:

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/elections/presidential/caucus/2015/04/18/ben-carson-visiting-iowa-announcement/25997173/

Hmmm….I wonder what decision he's going to announce on the 4th.  Maybe he'll announce that he's not going to run for president, and would just really like to take a vacation in Iowa, for unrelated reasons?

And now it looks like immediately after Carson wraps up his Iowa visit, he's going to spend a few days in South Carolina:

http://www.southstrandnews.com/article/20150424/GTT06/150429927/1142

Hmmm….big announcement being teased for May 4th, then a few days in Iowa, then a few days in South Carolina.  I wonder what that big announcement could be….

Meanwhile, Webb is in Iowa this weekend:

Cruz, Pence, and Perry are all visiting on April 23-25, for the American Jewish Coalition at The Venetian (owned by Adelson).

Typo on my part.  Should be the Republican Jewish Coalition, not the American Jewish Coalition.

And it looks like Pataki will be joining them as well:

http://www.algemeiner.com/2015/04/24/former-ny-governor-pataki-calls-on-2016-republicans-to-pledge-annulling-iran-deal/

(Or rather, did join them, as I think his speech may have been earlier tonight.)

Sanders's top strategist says a Sanders decision on 2016 is "days away" and he's leaning towards yes:

My guess is he has pledges for 91% of the funds he think he needs to run a respectable campaign for Secretary of Defense.  I see no chance of him getting the nomination and he doesn't have the temperament to be an attack dog or the ability to swing a swing state so he won't be getting the veep slot either.

That's not saying much though.  "Within 2 months" means by the end of June.  Virtually everyone will declare by then.  In fact, that's a good question: Who will still be publicly undecided on a run by July 1?  Biden is the obvious possibility on the Dem. side, but what about the GOP?  Kasich?  The no-hopers like Ehrlich and Gilmore?

The completely hopeless Republicans (Bolton, Ehrlich, Gilmore, etc.) will likely declare their intentions by mid-June or so as many of the candidates will already have announced, so the campaign is well underway by then. I can see Biden teasing and stretching out his timeline to as late as August.

Democratic fundraiser and supermarket owner says Bush will announce today in Miami, says he thought it was "common knowledge." http://nypost.com/2015/04/26/catsimatidis-blabs-jeb-bush-announcing-2016-bid-on-monday/

I'm not sure if I want to trust The Cat on this one.

I worked for him one summer and actually know his son, who apparently met him last week. Doesn't seem right but curious.
