In neither the 2008 nor 2012 election cycles do I remember such a large fraction of the candidates announcing their announcement dates weeks in advance.  It seemed to be more common in those earlier cycles for candidates to take us by surprise, and announce with no or little notice.

Maybe because so many are running (especially in the GOP), to let others know so that they don't choose the same day?

Didn't Jeb Bush's initial announcement sort of catch everyone by surprise?

I'm talking about announcements of candidacy.  All Bush has announced so far is that he has a Super PAC, though he's also given a vague "mid-June" timeline for a final decision on whether he's running (but he clearly seems to be, since just yesterday he accidentally said that he was running).

And then, the slightly less specific:

Pataki: before the end of this month

Looks like he's made it May 28th.

Maybe this will convince Jon Stewart to stay on at The Daily Show.

Any word on when Gov. Walker plans to announce?

Latest word was June at the earliest because he's still dealing with the state budget. If he doesn't get that right, it might as well spell the end of his GE chances.

Ah! Great news! I'm absolutely thrilled. I was afraid he might he jump in much later. This is a good launch date.

He's not seriously going to run again, is he? Here's just three of the reasons that immediately spring to mind:
1. There's an indictment hanging over his head.
2. He's a nonfactor in the polls.
3. He's...eh... what was it? Oops.

Kasich says his family is OK with him running for prez, if that's what he wants to do:

He also says that he's currently trying to figure out if he could raise the necessary $ to fund a campaign:

http://www.seattlepi.com/news/article/Kasich-says-possible-2016-run-won-t-dwell-on-6266959.php

That story also notes that Kasich is saying that he won't "dwell on social issues" if he runs for prez.  He is Mitch Daniels reborn.

We're already easily breaking through the ceiling of the 12 Republican candidates of 2012 and 2008 and probably of the 14 Democratic candidates of 1988.

Maybe instead of debates, they should just have a job fair set up in a convention center somewhere and let all the candidates stand in line to give their pitches at booths set up by various news outlets, interest groups and major political donors.

Graham, while in NH, now says he's 99.9% certain that he'll run for president:

He also said that he blames Obama for Iraq's problems, rather than Bush.

He'd have a major advantage in New England. The Boltons do currently control the North, after all.

Don't besmirch the good name of House Bolton by implying that John Bolton is one of them Angry

More Iowa visits listed on the Des Moines Register's site:

http://data.desmoinesregister.com/iowa-caucus/candidate-tracker/index.php

Trump attends a Pottawattamie County GOP fundraiser on May 15th.  Then on May 16th, Bush, Carson, Fiorina, Graham, Jindal, Perry, Santorum, Trump, and Walker all speak at the Iowa GOP's Lincoln Dinner.

Looks like Pataki was there as well:

There does seem to be an opening for him emerging with the potential to become as wide as the Grand Canyon given present trends. Smiley Let us hope, he proves to be made of the right stuff to successfully navigate this grueling and demanding process. Jeb's displayed lack of discipline is really quite shocking to me.

Wow. Very strong interview. I haven't actually seen him speak very much as I've mostly just read about him, but that kinda straight-talking no-BS attitude could be a good fit for the post-Obama era. I'm really intrigued.
