His opponent was a clown, although the margin was still incredible.

Still can't believe this guy was reelected.

That's because he persuaded the morons who voted that the government was out to get him.

New York Democrats had a truly tragic year for recruiting. It's amazing how bullheaded Grimm is, and still managed to beat out that moron who ran against him.

Well, considering it's Staten Island, yes, I'd assume so.

It's Staten Island, so no, no good Republicans. But there are plenty.

You thought the same about Rangel/his voters/his district, right? Or are you unfamiliar with my point because your Google alerts are only set for "Republican+scandal/stupid comment?"

Other than the Al Sharpton& Charlie Rangel corruption, of Harlem politicians, the likes of Maxine Waters or Conyers havent been embroiled in any scandles. I know it is Hypocrisy, but so is the G O P House running in a presidential year, with Hilary and a favorable senate map. We are looking to grab the first 10 easy House seats.

Yeah, every Democrat here LOVES Charlie Rangel. We cheer him on against every opponent.

In all honesty, there is a certain smugness about Grimm that makes him seem alot worse.

A poster in the comments on RRH had the rather interesting theory that Boehner had intentionally asked Grimm to delay his resignation until the next scandal/next time it was necessary to distract headlines and deployed him now to get the pressure off of Scalise. Fascinating.

Anyway, most of the candidates have probably been listed in this thread: DA Dan Donovan seems to start off as the favorite for the GOP nomination, while Ds are probably hoping to convince former one-term Representative Mike McMahon to run. McMahon considered and then rejected running in 2012 and 2014, but there might be more pressure on him due to this being a special election.

The question is if Donovan runs, will the type of voter backlash from the African-American community in Staten Island from the Garner Case cost him the race?

As someone form the other side myself, I really like to read what sort of connections/theories they make at RRH. A lot of times, they're pretty good.

An interesting note: since the start of the Obama Administration, there have been 4 special elections in New York state: all 4 have been within single-digits, and 3 have resulted in party switches. Of those 4, 2 have seen notable third-party performances, including one instance where a third-party candidate came within 3% of winning. What a record of exciting elections that this is about to continue.

Because the GOP just salivates over Mike Grimm!

Tell me with a straight face which Congressman is more respected within his party.

Does that mean Grimm will be sworn in on Saturday and then resigns on Monday ?

LOL.
