Dominating! The 2016 Democratic wave is building!

But really, it's pretty bad for Kirk that he can't even lead someone known to only 1/18th of the state. He'll likely poll competitively throughout the cycle, but presidential year turnout in Illinois will just be too much to overcome in the end.

Also, why in the world did they test Quinn?

Kirk will likely be defeated by a Warren-Brown margin.

Unlike in the House, he was collegiant to fellow lawmakers and sponsored bills that he wanted passed. By the Mc Connell obstruction of record fillibusters, he did no good, by siding with them on Crt of Appeals appointments.

It's time to open the board "2016 Senatorial Polls"!

We have polls from New Hampshire, North Carolina, Illinois.

The Democrat at the top of the ticket in '16 will likely get around 55%.  So, Kirk needs to keep his GOP base somehow and then, skim at least 5-7 points from the Democrats/Independents that support the Democratic ticket at the top.

Also, a third party that takes 2-3 points from the left, similar to '10 could be crucial.

I would still rather than Duckworth stays in the House and builds seniority. She seems good on paper, but would falter in a Statewide race.

Lief and I already asked Dave, but he does not seem to care (yet).

Protect moderate Republicans Senators at all costs.
Kirk isn't a moderate republican. He supports SSM and gun control, but except that, he doesn't differ from the rest of republicans.

He's also pro-choice.

I love that they polled Pat Quinn just because.

He wasnt a moderate when he supported McConnell historic fillibusters on Crt of Appeals nominees and they had to change the rules.

Lisa Murkowski and Kelly Ayotte are at risk as well should  Begich and Kuster run.

He also blocked immigration reform at some levels which is counting against him as well.

He is so moderate that he voted against the repeal of DADT.

"The People's Pat" should run again (mainly for an entertaining election, and plus a huge Republican bloodbath) Tongue

I guess this ruins Democrats hopes of running Pat Quinn, which was obviously the plan.

I continue to doubt that Duckworth will run for anything other than reelection, inasmuch as she has underperformed before and is about to have a child. Cheri Bustos, Mike Quigley, Sheila Simon, Mike Frerichs, or Tom Dart would all have been interesting to test, since they are all plausible nominees.

Please, ILDems, run Quinn. That would be a race more entertaining than the Iowa one this year.

There is, by the way, already a semi-prominent candidate running: Tio Hardiman, a businessman who challenged Quinn in the 2014 primary and got flattened. Doubt he'll be the candidate, but he could very well be able to crack double-digits in a primary.

It's pretty disgusting that Pat Quinn, the best governor Illinois has ever had, is losing by 19 points.

Because sticking up for Blago until it became too pathetic and raising taxes by 67% is good?

Yeah, that's how most moderate Republicans are.

Contrary to what a good number of Atlas Democrats believe, holding some conservative views doesn't make you a extremist Tea Partier. And Senate votes are up/down, yes/no votes, so that pigeon holes people into making hard choices.

We've had dozens of threads about this. Kirk, Collins, etc. are moderates. End of story. Let's not get off topic here.

Keep in mind that for most posters here anyone to the right of Mao Zedong is a "Far right Tea Partier".

That awkward moment when supporters of Warren and sanders criticize the moderate credentials of others
