I think it should be in Chicago since he was elected from there. To have it in Hawaii would be like having the Reagan Library in Illinois and the George W. Bush Library in Connecticut.

More people would probably visit Chicago for obvious reasons, but the uniqueness of Hawaii would be pretty cool. I imagine they could make it into one of the must-see sites for tourists.

It will be Chicago, not Hawaii in all likelihood.  And it will be in South Side Chicago.  His post-Presidency will be focused on uplifting black America in a way he felt constrained from doing as President, so it only makes sense to pick that location.

The disappointment of Obama is over in Illinois, especially as far as the Library is concerned. The people that I've talked to, said now, as far as they are concerned, Obama can build his Library wherever he choses.

But, we are still hoping Illinois is chosen, of course.

The President has spent most of his time in office in Hawaii rather than in Illinois, when he vacations. It's clear that he prefers Hawaii over Illinois. Illinois appears to have just been a career/electoral base, rather than his home.

Illinois's retaliation by voting Republican for Governor and U.S. senator is hilarious, in this context.

After the Election, Mayor Rahm will do everything to keep Obama in Chicago.
