The Constitution has been passed by the Convention by 15 votes to none, with two not voting.

We will now have ratification votes in each of the Regions, each lasting exactly one week. The new Constitution must be ratified by all Regions to have effect.

I am "on hand" to answer questions about the new Constitution as they arise, as well as to help the ratification process in any way I can.

Mideast Ratification Vote

Northeast Ratification Vote

Southeast Ratification Vote

Midwest Ratification Vote

Pacific Ratification Vote

All booths are now up.

The document looks like it was written by a bunch of socialists. On the one hand, it gives the federal government only specific powers, but then it also says that no law shall be struck down unless it shall "explictly" conflict with the constitution.

What a contradiction in substance!

I will interpret that as I see fit.  Don't worry.

Most of the Powers were written by Ernest at the time of the Powers Amendment. The rest of it is mostly me with large borrowings from our original Constitution and the US Constitution.

Explicit contradiction was just an enumeration of the concept of judicial review.

Pacific and Midwest booths will be posted as soon as they become available.
I presume that only the Governor can open them?

No specific requirement was mentioned in the Ratification requirements; I think it is presumed it has to be an authorised officer from the Region. e.g. In the Pacific (as well as the Mideast and Southeast) more than just the Governor can open a general voting booth. Presumably the same will happen here.

Not really. You could say that everything after the Revolution was the Second Republic this is just a rewriting of the Constitution.

Mideast vote ends tomorrow afternoon

Peter, I can formally close that vote, but only you or a mod can lock it for me.  Would you mind doing that after I 'close' it?

I was going by changes in Constitutional structure...although, then, everything after Fritz v. Ernest might be new...hmm...

Voting has closed… Yesterday! Wink

With five votes in favor, one vote against and one abstention, the Midwest Region has ratified the new Constitution.

And she's ratified!

How come no one else seems excited by this?  Am I missing something?
