It's an umbrella term for a subculture based around a bunch of loosely related musical genres, offshoots of punk but not exactly what most people think of when they think of "punk".

At first I thought you were talking about the BDSM scene, because that's the only time I hear people talk about "the scene". That would also be an interesting question.

Does scene still exist? Anyway, I was in high school when I did and yes, the overlap with Evangelical Christianity was huge. Not really surprising. Both are suburban movements based around malls or mall like buildings. If your family is Evangelical, they are most likely lame and live in some horrible suburb, and if you live in a horrible suburb, Fall Out Boy seems relatively punk.

The only way that the SPOe redeem themselves is if they increase immigration levels; people are probably unhappy with the centre-left because there hasn't been enough immigration.

You're partly right. The solution to the "problem" of immigration is to draw in more immigrants and naturalize them, so as to drown out the racist vote. This strategy is already starting to pay off in the US. I wish Europe was smart enough to follow suit...

As for the poll question, in case of a tie I always bet on the worst outcome, so FPÖ.

2012 was a GOP wave year

Obama only won reelection by four states and the Dems only made 2 Senate pickups

In a regular year (2006, 2008, etc.) you would see that NC is much swingier than MN
Oldie but a goldie. 2006 and 2008 were "regular years". 2012 was a "GOP wave year". Okay...

I've always been annoyed by the assumption that the "natural state of things" is a tie in the popular vote, but yeah, that post is just as bad.

But as I know the politically correct, naive left-leftists Merkel, Faymann and Co. I'm sure they will not learn from these tragedies and just keep on doing what they have done until now: talking and leading a comfortable life of elitists with their 10.000€ monthly salary, far removed from the needs of the average German/Austrian citizen and even further away from the lives of the refugees ...

I like the introduction of the neologism "left-leftist". It is directly translated from German ("Linkslinke"). I think I'm going to use it. But Merkel wouldn't really be someone I'd call like that...

Context:
Sweet.  I didn't really like dealing with people when ordering my fast food anyway.  Plus robots will screw up my order a lot less often and put the proper amounts of things on my burger or taco.

This is why neoliberalism is a danger to the people.

Well, I would say that the news article in that thread shows why socialism is a danger to the people.

It is the unions who are responsible for the ongoing nonsense about a higher minimum wage (why $15? Why not $150?), leading to fewer jobs and the introduction of the fastfood robot technology dead0man describes. So while you may not like the (obviously somewhat sarcastic) way he formulated this, the implications of his statement with regard to a higher minimum wage are factually correct.

Corporations across the planet are trying to "robotise" services. But where there are strong unions, there are strong protections and they lead the fight against job losses. This is also why industrial action is an important part of the process.

And this nonsense about minimum wages harming jobs has to stop. Ample evidence, including in the restaurant industry, shows that increasing the minimum wage only leads to an increase in salaries without a corresponding increase in unemployment.

Actually, you know what? No matter how cruel Hitler and his allies were, Hitler never deported people. The truth is that Trump's plan to deport between 11 and 12 million people would be by extremely far the greatest deportation effort in the history of human kind!
