Hillary, Trump, and Cruz are all pretty unlikable people.
Yet, Clinton supporters claim, without good argument, that she is more "electable" than Sanders. The biggest myth about Clinton, of course.

Wait until he truly is in the national spotlight, if he even gets that lucky.
That's the problem. A lot of people haven't voted for him in the primaries because they don't know who he is. The more people know about him, the more likely they are to vote for him.

Probably the worst case for Sanders, he would do much better, although a lot can change in 222 days.
270 Sanders
191 Kasich
77 tossup
If Kasich were to get the nomination (highly unlikely), Sanders would still have a week to convince super delegates that nominating Clinton wouldn't be worth the risk (although I doubt that he could do that since 2/3 of the supers are currently supporting Clinton. Still we can all dream). Clinton wouldn't do as well as Sanders, and might even lose, according to current polls. She trails Kasich in popular but not necessarily electoral votes, she might win the same states plus Nevada, although she might lose Ohio:

there's nothing absurd about that post. i would've thought a connoisseur of absurdity such as yourself would have realised that.

That post is very absurd. Bernie is not getting 270 EVs in his worst case scenario, anyone with a shred of common knowledge ought to know that.

the only thing that's absurd here is the idea of ka(zzz)ich winning virginia or iowa

This whole thing started as a way to combine pro-life positions and opposition to the contraception mandate/free birth control into one line.  Fortunately for the democrats, Todd Akin was an idiot and Rush Limbaugh (also an idiot) insulted Sandra Fluke and that lent credibility to the charge.  But pro-life positions and religious opposition to parts of Obamacare don't come from a place of hating women, they come from religious arguments, so really what they were saying all along (without coming out and saying it) was that christianity was at war on women.  More recently they've thrown some feminist positions into the "war on women" smorgasbord even though republicans aren't even opposed to many of them.  Like closing the gender pay gap.  Who is opposed to this?  The problem is that nobody knows how to force more women to select high-paying majors and prioritize their careers.  Recently the democrats have been saying "equal pay for equal work" but the EEOC already enforces this and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act fixed the loophole that was breaking it.

False rape allegations are common? Oh, poor things, getting accused of rape! And those lucky women! All they have to do is worry about getting raped! We men have it so hard, don't we?

Maybe it's time someone said "I feel sorry for black any people who believe Hillary Clinton."

FTFY...she should be tried for treason.

Talk about bad what-if post...

So, after being inspired by this: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=112804.0, I decided, hey, why not?

ok now heres the timeline

Alfred Landon gains a huge donation from Fred Trump. With this huge donation, Landon buys the South, the Midwest, the Southwest, the west coast and literally every state that isn't the east coast. Landon campaigns on Long's "every man a king" platform and says that anyone the votes for him will become a king.

November 1st, 1936: Election day

Landon/Knox: 327 EVs
FDR/Garner: 210 EVs

What happens next? I don't know you figure it out

Sanders.

Nader isn't liberal at all. He's an authoritarian right winger.

I wouldn't expect anything less from a state that held the Scopes Trial.

Yeah, how dare a state try to combat eugenics. Those lesser humans need to get with the game and die off for our new utopia. So progressive!

But more to the point, Bill Clinton is absolutely right. Most of the shootings that occur in black neighborhoods in big cities are committed by blacks, yet Black Lives Matter seems to focus mostly on police shootings. If not for the crime bill there would be even more crime in black neighborhoods. There were black members of Congress who voted for that bill, because it really was necessary.

Like her party has room to talk. They have an actual, admitted socialist making a serious play for their nomination.

Almost every whitesox130 post I've ever seen is him whining about having to pay too much taxes.
LOL, I guess I've made a name for myself.

I promise I talk about other things.

YES! Cheesy Cheesy

I hope Maine won't eliminate it, though.

Basically this.  And, get Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia all on board.  Why not California, New York, and Illinois as well?

Let's just say Cruz is nominated on the second ballot at the contested convention and he selects Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin as his VP pick. How would it affects the swing states (i.e. Wisconsin)  in the election and who would win? Discuss with maps.

My own prediction:

Ted Cruz / Scott Walker (R) - 50.3% PV, 270 EVS
Hillary Clinton / Julian Castro (D) - 48.7% PV, 268 EVS

This would be a scenario in which Trump wouldn't run as an Independent, that would all but guarantee a Democratic landslide. So I have Cruz/Walker winning because of their ability to flip mid-western states such as IA, MN, WI. They also flip CO which has been trending R for most of this year, & FL by a thin margin.

Interesting. I would assume this would mostly be about abortion, euthanasia, and (maybe) drugs? Could you explain what social conservatism entails? I am by no means socially conservative, but I always like to hear other opinions.

Someone pointed out they were RELATIVELY conservative. So yeah, people who were really skeptical of conservatives who tried to wipe sex out in the 1990's...and now skeptical of liberal feminists who want to wipe sex out. People who were skeptical of firebrand preachers telling gays how to live their lives in the 1990's...and now skeptical of gays telling preachers how to live their life. Affirmative action often tends to be another base breaker issue. I wouldn't call myself conservative on many social issues, but I would definitely be wildly outside the Democrat norm on almost every single one.

Just popping in to say stop crapping on Buchanan. He did the best he could given the time he was president. No one else could have done a better job, barring unrealistic scenarios where the Free Soil Party somehow won office and freed all the slaves.

They both sound remarkably the same, and the music gets very monotonous, with the singer just shouting out words to the same chords over and over and over. So both are fails. Sad to see Hudson slip into the fail zone. Sad

Posts like the above demonstrate why this forum desperately needs a like/dislike option.  Torie's original post would easily have collected about 20 likes (conservative estimate for a community as big as Atlas) vs 1 dislike from BRTD.

Is this a self-nomination? Unfortunately, we have many others waiting in line longer than you that have been actively making a case recently.
